"We booked a 2 twin room and we were given an accessible room with a queen/double and a twin. Room was clean but a little dated. Air conditioner was on a timer that would cut out at night and we were there during a heat wave so it did get quite warm even at night. Walkable to all the sights in the area (castle, towers, etc.). Tram system also stops nearby. Overall good stay."
"Hotel is a funky gem in a fantastic location. Staff is what made the stay memorable and fantastic. From Reception, to Bar, to cleaning staff they could not have been nicer and accommodating. This made the trip a joy. Always available to help with suggestions."
"I went to Belgium for the first time with my wife and kids from London. I drove all the way. Hotel staff was kind enough to offer me to park as soon I come. This allowed me.to park and go around city before our check in time. Room.was very spacious and very clean. We all had fantastic sleep. The only downside was, sofa bed made creaking noise when one moves. That should be fixed as that disturbs sleep. It didnt matter too much in the end because we were dead tired, but surely got noticed. Parking is spacious and easy. There is a tram 15 mins away which takes you to city centre. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Staff was wonderful. Would recommend."
"Very disappointing end to what could have been a good stay.
The hotel’s location is excellent and the room itself was perfectly fine, which makes the poor service experience even more frustrating.
The checkout interaction was frankly unacceptable. The front desk staff were rude, dismissive, and surprisingly argumentative over what should have been a simple guest query. Rather than listening or trying to help, the conversation became confrontational for no reason. Escalating the matter to the manager did not improve the situation—in fact, the same unhelpful and defensive attitude continued.
What stood out most was the complete lack of customer service mindset. Mistakes or misunderstandings can happen anywhere, but professionalism, courtesy, and a willingness to resolve issues are the minimum one expects from hospitality staff, especially management.
A hotel stay is judged not only by the room and location, but by how guests are treated. Unfortunately, the conduct of the staff at checkout left a very poor final impression, and based on that experience, I would not stay here again. And I recommend no one else does as well."
"A nice characterful hotel in a location within easy walking distance of the central tourist areas. The provision to store luggage before check-in and after checking out was particularly welcome. The room and bathroom were nicely decorated although the ‘double’ bed was quite uncomfortable as was two single beds pushed together which created a sag in the middle. Also the room (3 on the ground floor) is located right next to the stairs that all other guests have to use and as a consequence was very noisy- you can hear footsteps on the stairs, voices, banging etc every time the stairs are used which started at 06.45 on a Sunday morning which was unwelcome and disturbing. My travel partner had a separate room on the 1st floor and also commented that this room was also subject to a lot of noise with ‘paper-thin walls’. We did not have breakfast so cannot comment.
Overall the hotel served the purpose for a brief 1 night stay in Ghent but would not like to stay any longer than that due to the disturbances whilst trying to sleep."
