It was warm and with no air con the room was a little hot, but they had a fan and we asked for the window restrictor to be removed which helped a lot! Great location, less than 10 minutes walk in to the centre of Chester. Great stay and would stay again 😊"

"We arrived at the property and we was not told about the ongoing building work going on at the hotel. There is scaffolding all around the hotel no views from the window due to a scaffolding dirty windows unsafe no locks on the windows meaning people can climb with the ladders and get into your room rude Bar manager overall experience very bad. This hotel should be closed down until the work is completed."

"Beautiful resort, clean and well maintained. Food was gorgeous in The Grill. The room Is dated, would have looked gorgeous 30 years ago, very dark wood and we had no furniture to sit on the balcony."

"Nice reception, but the rooms look tired. Lack of signage meant guessing where the rooms or the public toilets where. Whoever painted the rooms needs to go to Specsavers, who half paints over a light switch and doesn't clean it off. Cleaning was only okay. Overpriced hotels like this, in mediocre condition is why I usually go for the often cheaper hotel chains that maybe bland, but in better condition."

"This hotel does not match the description. It is the shabbiest building that I saw on the Promenade. Is not expensive, but that shouldn't be used as an excuse for how dirty and poorly maintained it was. In my room there was damp on the ceiling from an old leak, and mould and fungus growth was well established, so it hasn't just happened. The wardrobe door was falling off, there were homes in the walls, and the carpet was grubby. Not a pleasant experience at all!"

"We paid for a room with air conditioning and it did not function, we asked for another room nothing available, had to sleep the night in a stuffy not room, not even a fan available. Never again"

"Lovely room, well appointed. The staff were really helpful and lovely. A great stay all round. No negatives whatsoever. Very convenient for the city but also for the motorway network. The spa was one of the best I've visited on a hotel site. Recommend highly!"

"Our sea view room was clean and spacious. The bed mattress was a bit uncomfortable though. The bathroom was clean. Could do with a couple of armchairs in the room rather than wooden ones but we didn't spend a lot of time in the room as we were out and about most of the time. The breakfasts were good with a good choice to suit most people. We've been to the grand now about 8 times now and have honestly never had any real issues. Looking forward to our next visit."

"All excellent except dogs permitted indoors. I agree with assistance dogs but 2 of my travelling companions have had adverse experiences with dogs. One was bitten by a family pet the other chased down the street by a Rottweiler that had escaped through a fence. Given that neither of those attacks were reported there must be more than double the 24,000 annual reported attacks. In addition hygiene can be an issue if dogs go into food serving areas! Since the pandemic there has been a proliferation...

"Do NOT stay here if Cardiff is experiencing a heat wave. Our room was close to 90 degrees when checking in. It appears no one was in our room the night before. The room was on the fourth floor and 2 out of the 4 walls were almost all windows- with curtains that did not fully cover them. The property knew these rooms were hot, but didn’t seem to want to make things more comfortable for those who were checking in. The guest rooms do NOT have air conditioning BUT the common areas (halls, reception)...
