I did get the impression they dont get too many overseas travellers but this did not stop them from being friendly and providing the service they would provide anyone staying there. This place also advertised a public bath available which i regretfully did not use as i was not there long enough. I was only here for one night on a stop but when i took a stroll around the neighbourhood i felt very safe and there were plenty of convenience stores....

Post-hike, we moved from Tokyo to Osaka with a stop at the Ryokan in Shimada. Two families (eight of us) stayed at Kappo Ryokan Uoichi and had a wonderful time. The building is a 150-year-old restaurant, and the stay included a shared bedroom with eight futon beds, an adjacent family room, a private bathroom, and a shared onsen. "Excellent facilities, friendly service, quiet atmosphere. It was the perfect accommodation with the right mix of camping sensibility and the comfort of the hotel. My friend and I spent a lot of time in the accommodation and auxiliary facilities, as it was such a wonderful accommodation to just fall asleep and leave."

"For what it was, the stay was perfect. Friendliest staff I have ever encountered in a hotel. Room was spotless clean, had a very nice firm bed and more provided pillows than most hotels, the hotel had plenty of amazing restaurants in close proximity, a Konbini on the ground floor With a smoking area, and is a short walk from the nearest train station. Will be coming back if I ever pass through again."
