Worth a stay

We spent 2 nights at The Vicarage - very pleasant experience. Friendly welcome very informative. Good choice at Breakfast - nothing too much trouble. Did not have evening menu as was visiting family in the area. Rooms reasonable size - also bathroom - shower could have been better - internet not great but overall very good stay - would return.

Could do better, much better!

Unfortunately the room stayed in was very tired and very hot. We had to keep the window open all night but as the car park was directly outside, we were kept awake. I used the hotel checkin emailed to me but couldn’t find anyone on arrival. The complimentary Continental Breakfast was very poor. Bread not fresh, no yogurt and pastries stale. What a shame.

Original twin room was too hot. The radiator couldn’t be turned down and would have been impossible for 2 people to sleep. The reception were able to move us to a different room which was brilliant

Beware of the peacocks

The hotels has peacocks wandering around. Yes very random. The noise they make is horrific. Continues the entire stay. Worse than cockerels. On top of the peacock noise there was a dog barking at the noise they were making. So no sleep on the two nights stay.

The hotel is very rundown on both the inside and the outside. I think the hotel mostly caters for people travelling with dogs. This isn’t what me and my pregnant wife wanted. The tired room had been cleaned but you could still see dog hair on the carpets. We were kept awake in the night with the fire door banging outside our room and lots of comings and going in the corridor. I complained at 20:30pm but nothing was done about it. They refused hotels.com request to refund my stay. There are some nice b&bs in Holmes Chapel I advise going there instead.

The staff were wonderful, fun and extremely welcoming. We stayed for 2 cozy, autumnal nights and this place lived up to our expectations. Waking up to peacocks outside our window was an unexpected and enjoyable surrpise.
