"Amazing hotel for fair prices!!"
Hotel Van Zandt
8/10 Good
"Overall, I had a lovely staycation at Hotel Van Zandt, but unfortunately, there were a few experiences that made me question whether I would stay here again. The first issue happened immediately upon check-in. I was given a key to a room that was already occupied. When I attempted to enter, a woman who had just gotten out of the shower screamed and came to the door. I apologized and was obviously very embarrassed, but I couldn’t stop thinking about how uncomfortable and frightening that must have been for her. Having someone else be given access to your hotel room is a serious privacy and security concern. Since I was staying with four other women, this incident made me much more cautious throughout our stay. I kept hoping the same mistake wouldn’t happen to us, which unfortunately took away from the relaxing experience I was hoping for from a staycation. The second incident happened at the hotel bar. A man was repeatedly yelling at me and persistently asking to give me a massage, while also offering to pay me. He continued shouting different prices and trying to negotiate with me despite my obvious discomfort. What was especially concerning was that the bartenders did not seem to react or intervene, and the situation was treated as though it were no big deal. My friends and I became so uncomfortable that we left the hotel bar and went somewhere else."
Omni Austin Hotel

"Trash left on tables by the lobby, security guard on his phone doom scrolling and didn’t look attentive at all. This makes the entire experience look and feel sloppy. We ordered room service and their breakfast was wonderful, but without any warming plates and no microwave, you better make sure you eat as soon as it arrives. We valeted and the attendance were great, attentive and remembered to offer us water on the way out. That was very appreciated. Overall, the feel felt less high-end and more Holiday Inn."
