"Room we clean and had space. The swimming pool with the booking system worked really - we really enjoyed it. Breakfast - we couldn't fault it, loads of choice excellent quality and service."
"The room was comfortable and clean, with a kettle provided for tea and coffee, which was great. The only thing missing was guest toiletries — cotton pads are always handy. I usually bring my own, but on this occasion I had forgotten them, so they would have been a nice addition.
Breakfast offered a decent selection. The egg option was scrambled only, but I was told that if I wanted something different, they would make it. I would suggest adding a second tea/coffee station, as there was a queue every time.
The location of the hotel was great. We were there for a show at the Hippodrome, and it was only a 10-minute walk. Would not hesitate to stay here again. "
"Characterful hotel with well equipped rooms and in a fantastic location but has a disgraceful policy of charging guests an extra fee to to hold their bags pre-check in and post-check out.
Never encountered this at any other hotel, including other within the same chain. Holding guest bags is a minimum expectation of the complimentary service at most hotels irrespective of budget."
"The breakfast was fantastic, fabulous choice of food and juices; staff were so helpful and attentive.
Spa was a welcome treat, after a day of exploring the city; again, staff in spa were so helpful.
Room, as rest of hotel, was spotless. The windows were rather old and hard to open ( to air the bathroom, after a shower), but the building is relatively old.
The private parking was expensive, but only a short walk from the hotel and we knew the car was safe and secure.
All in all, a wonderful stay at The Gainsborough, will definitely return; was a wonderful experience. "
"My partner and I were impressed with the Moxy for the budget price we paid, room was clean, quiet (road facing) and had style. We didn't opt for the breakfast so cant comment on that, but not far is the 'Crafty Egg' an independent cafe, really good."
