I am very fortunate to have traveled a great deal. I added on this trip to La Hacienda del Carmen to a layover my husband had in Guadalajara. What a treat it was! Everything was amazing about our stay there. It’s a fairly quick taxi ride there from Guadalajara. Once there, you are transported to a different time and place! This is where you go to relax, be pampered, appreciate the historical importance of the area, and leave the business of life behind. The attention to details in decor, service, and cleanliness is exceptional. The respect given to the land, history and the hard work that created this hacienda is admirable. Wake up to the sound of doves. Then stroll through the property to be greeted by handsome horses and a friendly cat or donkey. Enjoy a meal where the chef asks you in advance what you would like to eat…anything you wish. Then enjoy the spa which is housed in the most unique and stately building you can imagine. I don’t have enough space to say how much we enjoyed our stay. But, our next trip to Mexico MUST include a longer stay at La Hacienda del Carmen!

Es un lugar hermoso! Tomamos servicio de spa y estuvo muy relajante. La alberca también está increíble, con agua climatizada y servicio para pedir alimentos y bebidas. Los alimentos fueron deliciosos! El único inconveniente que tuvimos fue que había demasiados mosquitos y no pudimos descansar de tantos mosquitos, pero entendemos que es parte del entorno de la hacienda.

La Hacienda El Carmen es una gran experiencia. El un lugar hermoso, que te transporta al pasado. Nosotros disfrutamos mucho de caminar por los jardines, conocer su huerta, el vivero (la mayoría de insumos para su restaurante son cosechados ahí mismo), el Spa es muy recomendable, pasar la tarde en la alberca. En fin. Además su personal es muy atento.

This property is my retreat when trying to disconnect and recharge! Let me say that this place isn’t for everyone! It’s a place for resting, so curfew is 11:00PM to allow every guest to rest. I love this! The property itself is a historic landmark, well preserved with modern upgrades done tastefully and practically. Air conditioned rooms, pool, jacuzzi, spa, gym, restaurant, bar, horseback riding, gaming tables etc. the rooms are exquisitely decorated with the charm of the era, and a couple of tasting bottles of the house made rum awaits on arrival along with snacks. The property also offers free tours of their rum distillery to guests along with rum tasting. The restaurant is fantastic! The menu changes daily so it allows you to taste several dishes during an extended stay. Their T-bone steak, jicama ceviche, guac and carrot cream soup were incredible! Hospitality here is above and beyond! Every member of the staff from the reception to the restaurant, spa and stables is serviceable and willing to do whatever it takes to ensure every guests has a great experience. The pool is nice and warm to spend the day relaxing. The spa is addictive with treatments that leave you wanting for more. Mary was my therapist twice an did a fantastic job! My favorite was the hot stone massage, but heard from friends the facials were the best they’ve had. We love animals so having horses available daily for riding and visiting with the farm animals was so much fun. So much soul!
