"The main house, gardens and grounds were excellent and well maintained. Our room in the Mews was very large with french windows opening on to a shared patio, essential in this heat. There was no air conditioning, or fan and our phone in the room did not work. We were supplied with a faulty portable fan, but in the end the open doors provided enough cooling air. The shower was superb with enough hot water whenever we needed it. We could have done with a table and chairs to sit and organise...

"We booked Hempstead House for a relaxing night away, but instead spent the evening listening to a wedding reception directly beneath our room. The loud music, guests partying in the courtyard and noise from people returning to their rooms meant we had a very poor night’s sleep. I completely understand that weddings are an important part of the hotel’s business, and I have no issue with the wedding itself. "The hotel is classed as a 4* hotel. I think this is perhaps because of the amenities and perhaps the size. The hotel rooms are very tired and not up to 4* standard, well the one I had was and lacked things I would have expected in a 4* hotel. There was a small cupboard as a wardrobe with about 3 hangers. One chair. No drawer unit. The bed was very comfortable and the white linen was clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful. I did not see all of the hotel only my room. I would not...
