The gentleman was very friendly and helpful when I checked in. The place was very clean. However the toilet seat was loose and came off in the middle of the night when used. Also the bathroom door wouldn’t stay closed. Other than that it was fine

We enjoyed our stay at the Harbourview Motel. It is simple accommodations, but clean, quiet, comfy and convenient. Enjoyed the nearby walk along the waterfront and loved hearing the train go by.

An overnighter

It was a quick overnight stay. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. With the help of the staff, he directed us to the restaurants and we took his advice and went to Papas. Nice setting inside and the food was very good.

Train tracks are close, with 2 trains during the evening. Owner was nice, room clean, bed mattress okay, and appreciated the water provided and the Wagon Wheel treats, nice touch!

This property is in an okay area, rooms are decent size for what you pay. Bathroom and bed were great. Only thing that wasn't okay, stains in the carpet, paint missing on parts of the window, baseboard heater rusty, parts of the room scratched, and for how much time it would take to fix, should be painted. There is no dining room/cafe, its filled with stuff.

QUIRKY MOM&POP LODGING--CLEAN, COMFY, AND CHEAP: The good: Easy to find and truly has a closeup view of a working harbor, which I found fascinating. Host was friendly and helpful; made me feel at home right away. Immaculate room: clean carpet, pristine bathroom, brand-new spiffy subcompact kitchen, good window blinds, and very quiet at night, no noisy heater/fan (yay!). If you get lucky, a freight train will roar by, just a stone's throw away from your back window, hauling coal down from the distal end of Cape Breton and through the interesting waterway. Freight trains in the night have always been cool, so I count this as a bonus. DRAWBACKS : Very spartan furnishings. There is no inner door lock to prevent somebody with a key from entering, so carry your preferred security device. Poor lighting: One simple overhead fixture and at the bedside, a small, very bright, non-dimmable light. Great maybe for (very) minor surgery; not so good for ambiance. Glitchy hower controls. MORE GOODIES: Easy peasy wifi connection and--did I mention?--probably first runner-up in my personal competition for world's most comfortable motel bed. One last thing: As I write this, in March 2025, these rooms appear to be brand, spankin' new. Hopefully, mom&pop will keep the place in good shape, and hopefully, guests will take care of it too. It's a gem!
