"The Sands is an older place, maybe built in the 60's? They did a light renovation a few years ago, so it is nice. But the best thing about the Sands is the view. They provide a nice little balcony, big enough for a small table and chairs, where you can fade away while watching the never ending boat traffic on the intercoastal. Look the other way and you have a distant ocean view which is also nice. When you first walk in the door to your room your eyes jump to the wall to wall windows and that special view. It is just fabulous. Lots of activity going on below, especially at Lola's bar and restaurant, which is very active, but not too loud. The staff is friendly and they provide coffee and a boxed breakfast of a bagel, yogurt and juice, which is nice. "

"We booked our stay at this hotel based on the reviews. Our first impression of the hotel was a bit strange. Our interaction with the front desk was very cold. My wife and I felt as we were a bother to the front desk staff as well as the coworkers in the front entrance. No greeting, Not even a hello. The room was ok. Dated! The air conditioning unit was so loud, it would wake me up at night when it went on. Mind you it was just replaced according to the Manager. If you stay at this hotel stay away from room 201. The hotel should never offer this room. The room is located next to the Staff supply closets/ Staff staircase door and the door made a lit of noise when it closed. Again waking me up while sleeping. The rest of the staff---wait staff, Beach staff were friendly. The hotel had a restaurant on the beach that was nice, but the couple of times we ate there, the food was always luke warm or cold. We informed the staff, but nothing ever came of it. I hope the hotels takes this review seriously so they can fix all of the above mentioned. I usually do not write reviews, but I felt I had to. "Everything was great. The location is top ten. Steps from the beach and restaurants. "

"Property is OUTDATED it feels like the late 90’s, bare minimum on everything. Bathroom window was broken and wouldn’t close…. Notified staff everyday only to have nothing done. No breakfast area on property, laundry area never opened on time as listed on the door. The best thing about this place is location on the beach. I would never stay here again. EXPEDIA this is not a HOTEL it’s an apartment. Make this your last option to rent."

"Our door didnt work properly, hard to open. Lots of mosquitoes by the tikki bar. Birds pooping on outdoor furniture, one pooped on my niece. Dead bird in the pond, raccoon poop on sidewalk "
