Hi Charlotte,A bar with guest rooms is exactly what we are! We've traded for 12 years as a bar and restaurant, and our guestrooms are the latest feather in our tophat.The bar is an amenity many of our guests enjoy. For those enjoying their evening elsewhere and returning to The Hatter to sleep, a 1am close time on a Saturday is generally amenable. That said, we completely understand that not everyone wants a late night. To be as clear as possible, we send an email upon receiving each booking which- explains we do have a bar on the ground floor,- informs that noise may be audible from the rooms, - outlines our opening hours, and- offers cancellation free of charge.Giving guests an enjoyable experience is our raison d'etre. We recognise our brand of hospitality is not universally appealing and Oxford offers many alternative hotels that may be better suited for guests who would prefer a quiet evening (particularly on weekends - Sundays - Wednesdays tend to be very quiet indeed).Although it's a service we plan to introduce in due course, we hope it's clear to guests when booking that breakfast is not provided. Having reviewed our settings on this site, there's nothing further we can add beyond the site's checklist (Is breakfast provided? Yes/No). Guests receive an email to our online concierge, which outlines some fab places nearby to enjoy breakfast. Check-in is indeed online; we have four guestrooms which isn't enough to support a staffing a front desk (at least, not at the rates we charge for the rooms). Online check-in resolves this issue and has the added benefit of facilitating guests' arrival at the time of their choosing and convenience, Upon arrival it also allows guests to head straight up to their rooms without delay.Should guests struggle with the online check-in we are very responsive and more than happy to help; with a little head's up we can also arrange for check-in upon arrival instead.

Hi Grant,We do have a bar on the ground floor and guests are advised that may be audible in the rooms, depending on what we have on. During Oxford term times ('til March 10th, from April 21st-June 15th, and Oct 13th - 7th Dec), we have live jazz on Tuesday evenings and student karaoke on Wednesdays. Outside of these dates the start of the week is very quiet; we're typically closed Monday and Tuesday evenings, with entertainment being (mostly) from Thursday - Saturday.We encourage guests to drop us an email if noise is a concern for them so we can confirm what we'll have on during their visit.

Hi Jose, thank you for staying with us on Saturday! We are a cocktail bar and live entertainment venue on the ground floor, with guest bedrooms on the third and fourth floor, so there is some sound - particularly on Saturdays when we're open latest. We're glad you found it clean, comfortable and nicely updated!
