This is my family's 4th stay at San Carlos. We have stayed in Premier Suite-King Bed, Premier Suite-Queen Bed, and Elite Suite-King Bed in 2019, 2021, 2023, and 2024. We absolutely love this hotel for its cleanliness, unmatched spaciousness (600 sq ft), and comfort and convenience coming from extra bathroom and a full kitchen. The area is very safe, close but not too close to many tourist attractions, and filled with nice restaurants. I would strongly recommend this place to anyone visiting NYC for work or pleasure, especially for longer stays.

We stay at San Carlos when in NYC. Suite prices are on the high side. We were given a 1 BR suite on the 3rd floor facing 50th St. The street noise (garbage trucks collecting trash especially) made sleeping difficult. The King bed mattress was on the soft side, not very comfortable. Other than that we enjoyed our most recent stay there.

We have stayed in many hotels over the past 15 years in NYC. This one by far is our very favorite. The staff was top notch. The hotel was very clean. It was convenient to many locations. We will definitely plan on staying here again.

The hotel staff welcomed us and provided a good care of us. The cleaning lady was absolutely wonderful, whenever she met us in the hall she would always ask how was it in our room and if we needed anything. The feeling that you’re cared was constant. A great service!

The hotel staff were nice and the room was spacious. The location is very close to the subway, so that was nice. The negative is that the room was dated with no screen on the window and the "facility fee" was a rip off since there were no real facilities to use. If I hadn't had to pay the facility fee, I would have been much happier.

This is our third stay in the San Carlos, its a wonderful hotel, we asked to switch rooms because they one we had reserved ended up feeling too small. They changed us to a bigger room for a special price. And ended up not charging us for a rollaway bed. I will always stay here if I can. The only negative, is that while extremely well kept, it is due for a renovation. It feels a little bit tired. Also, they used to offer continental breakfast included in the room price, not anymore.

This hotel was great, considering it is in the heart of Manhattan. We could walk to everything. The water pressure was not great and could use some updating but still a great hotel. We got a really good price on it too through a package.

The hotel is in a great location in Midtown Manhattan. a 10-15 minute walk to theaters, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Central Park, shopping, transportation, restaurants and more. It’s just iff the beaten path enough to be in a neighborhood atmosphere, with plenty of options for food, coffee and drinks nearby. The room was large, clean and with plenty of amenities and the hotel staff was friendly and welcoming.

The very good = The very good location, very friendly and helping staff, the hotel is very quiet The only downside is that they do not serve breakfast in the hotel. But there are plenty of options in the neighbourhood.

We never could get the WiFi to work in the hotel, but other than that it was an awesome room for five people! We had a double queen room with sleeper sofa and a little kitchenette. There are metro stations one and two blocks away so it is a great location. We would stay there again !

The Staff at the San Carlos Hotel were extremely friendly and helpful as well as the housecleaning people. The room was cozy and the overall ambiance was nice. It is close to almost anything you may want to do in New York City as we walked to a Broadway show as well as towards 2nd avenue for bars and restaurants. And the walk to Grand Central to go back home with our luggage instead of driving into NYC was another plus.

Clean and perfectly acceptable for 3-night stay
The room was acceptable for our short 3-night stay and the staff was extremely welcoming and helpful. Other than the following concerns, all else was fine. The heating system actually blew cool air despite the thermostat setting of 71; setting it to 72 addressed the problem, but it was necessary to lower it at night to avoid the dry air. While it was nice to have a small refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker, the coffee cups were too small for adult hands. Finally, the shower had low water pressure. We would consider staying there again provided our usual choices are unavailable.

No better Midtown East choice
We always stay at the San Carlos it is a super-clean hotel and they take pride in keeping in a cleanliness state that matches the most stringent COVID standards Great, quiet location. Good restaurants and shopping nearby. Short walk to subway and crosstown bus is right there. Taxis generally easy to hail from the street corners.
