We had nice staying in the hotel. It’s quiet, clean, comfortable & great location. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We didn’t like the shower, it’s old and just had cold water.
One night stop-over. Nice staff, we had a lovely room. Some areas in the Hotel are obviously not used so much now but with the huge area that is sited in and the wide corridors once upon a time it must have been a luxurious hotel.
£5 charge for pool!!!! Even for residents. Rooms definitely need updating. Need to get charges in the bar consistent, charged deferent 3 times! Carpet tired and tatty.

It was a comfortable stay, the room was clean a bit basic but had everything you needed.
So much noise from adjoining rooms, plus all rooms and corridors stunk of smoke. Really hard and uncomfortable bed, don't stay here if you want a good night's sleep.

There was no hot water and when I was standing in the bath trying to shower did I find this out! This was on the first night of arrival. I returned after being out at about 8:30 pm onwards and really needed that nice shower after a long drive earlier on. If there was a notice at the door that the power was out on the boiler it would have helped! I was so desperate that I actually showered with cold water! I just felt that some effort should have been made to inform the client of the problem. Also no information in room 17 about how to use the phone to get to the help desk. The room was icy cold because the heating was also off until much later. When I spoke to the desk the next morning, I was just casually told that they experienced a problem with the boiler. No “I am so sorry madam for the inconvenience..” So all in all not a good experience and I don’t think I will use this hotel again.
-35 min queue to check in
- 1st room had not been cleaning. Beds unmade and towels on bathroom floor.
- Room unbearably hot
- Mattress thin, could feel all the springs and rock solid. Pillows Also rock solid.
- Worst night sleep ever!
I had an altercation with the, arrogant , aggressive ahole of a manager. After trying to help a girl back to her room who was vulnerable to say the least. On my back to a friends room the manager demanded to know which room we were in. Once told he proceeded to tell us that room does notexist. We asked him for ID as it was not clear he showed us his plain black tie!!Maybe I could use my socks as a passport on my next trip abroad! He shouted at me in reception in front of staff and customers whilst waving his arms about and would not listen. He told us to leave the hotel but changed his mind without an apology. This had me so angry I could not sleep. A manager should be a role model the poor staff looked uncomfortable but seemed used to the little mans outburst. I would like to give praise to the bar staff and everyone else we encountered
Booked 2 nights for my wife and I as I needed to be at local hospital for 7am operation appointment and not sure I could travel home same night.
We had booked twin room and upon arrival Receptionist Abby noticed I used walking stick and decided to change our room to reduce distance I needed to walk.
On arrival at room pleasantly surprised to find a far bigger room than expected and two double beds so obviously upgraded which was appreciated as I needed plenty of bed space after the operation.
Booked 5.45am alarm call - fortunately I had set my own alarm and was awake when hotel call came as it was actually a man knocking on my door (not what I envisage as an alarm call)
Had one dinner and one breakfast whilst staying.Dinner stated hot and cold buffet it was effectively a self service 3 course meal with a choice of two starters ,three or four main courses and three desserts .Not great choice but at £12.50 not too pricey.Self Service Breakfast at £10.50 was ok . We went midweek and it was quiet so we did not have any queues.

The decor is old but in a classy grand way not dated. Modern tvs and bathrooms but four poster beds and chandeliers
Sadly, very disappointed with my two night stay here. Firstly the WiFi didn’t work in the room I was in, there was urine in the toilet on arrival. You have to pay £5 for the use a very old, shabby gym that was overcrowded. I arrived back late on the second night from travelling back from work, my room key didn’t work, so I queued for 20 minutes at almost midnight for a new room key. When I got in the room, the room hadn’t been cleaned or any towels replaced, my wet towels were still there on the bath and on the floor, bed not made, no tea/coffee/milk. The sign I had left on the door to please clean my room (that said please leave before 11am if you want your room cleaning) that I had left on there at 8.30am, had been posted under my door. There was someone playing loud music in the room across (usually I wouldn’t mind but I was getting up for work the next morning at 5am) and they were smoking cannabis. Didn’t feel safe on my own in this hotel, as a guy came up to me saying he’d followed me from the gym, spoke very little English, asking where I was from and if I wanted to get a drink in the bar, quite awkwardly would not leave me alone in the corridor, luckily there was a double lock on the door.
