Great stay in old Lyon

We had a lovely 2 night stay at Chez Sylvie, everything was perfect. As many have said previously, Sylvie is a fabulous host and really enjoys having people stay at her bed and breakfast. Great location in the old town of Lyon, and the steep hill really gets the heart racing! What an amazing city, so much to see and especially the beautiful Basilica at the top of the hill overlooking the city!

My young adult daughter and I stayed her for 2 nights and loved the place. Sylvie is a delight. Her breakfasts were really good and came with great conversation in her lovely kitchen. In the apartment room, we had plenty of privacy from the rest of the house, and we were able to come and go when we pleased. The room is meant to be somewhat of a couple’s get-away retreat. But my daughter and I were able to share it well. I highly recommend!

Sylvie has poured her heart into this beautiful and historic home on a quiet street with lovely views. The spacious room is at the top of the house. Her breakfasts are abundant and delicious and her company is fun! We feel lucky to have found her and her home. Sad to leave!

One of our favorite bed and breakfasts ever

Sylvie's BnB is absolutely amazing. We have done a lot of world travel, and Sylvie's place is unmatched. Her service is amazing and the room is exceptional. The location is central to many places in Vieux Lyon, making it very walkable. Sylvie is a spectacular host.

The property is beautiful and the view from the room is amazing. Sylvie is a wonderful hostess and strives to make your stay memorable. You do need to be in reasonable shape to walk the hill to get there, as well as to climb the stone stairs to the room. Given that, the short walk to shopping and restaurants makes the hill well worth it!

We spent three wonderful nights in Sylvie's place. The room was big and airy with a good bathroom and a jacuzzi. Very nice breakfast every morning at a time of our choosing. I need gluten- and lactose-free food, and that was not a problem. We really recommend this place.

Sylvie is an absolute treasure - she bends over backwards to accommodate her guests. The room itself is very spacious and comfortable and breakfast is simple but satisfying. Fair warning - there is a short but steep walk leading up to her place and even more stairs to the room after that, which can make large suitcases a bit of a challenge. Also, Sylvie's English is limited. My spouse is fluent so this was not an issue for us. That aside, our stay was very pleasurable and I would highly recommend it.

Perfect Location, Even Better Host

We had such a lovely stay at this charming bed and breakfast tucked away in the historic old quarter of Lyon. The location was perfect—easy walking distance to so many great restaurants, shops, and beautiful sites. The space itself was super cute and cozy, full of character that matched the charm of the area. Our host was absolutely wonderful—so sweet, welcoming, and genuinely fun to be around. We really enjoyed the breakfasts each morning, not just for the delicious food, but also for the great conversations we had with her. She made our time in Lyon even more memorable, and we felt like we were staying with a friend rather than just renting a room. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a place with heart and hospitality in one of the most beautiful parts of the city.

This is a nice clean room situated smack dab in the middle of Old Lyon with easy access to a plethora of bouchons, cafe's, boulangeries, restaurants, and anything else you want to eat. We found it very cozy and despite a slight language barrier we communicated very well with our very accomodating host, Sylvie, and her husband Joseph. Since we are Cajuns, it was a highlight of our stay to be able to immerse ourselves in a real French environment and we would certainly stay here again. The only downside was the climb up the street and the stairs inside, but you can do it in stages to catch your breath.

This is a beautiful room in a historical home near Old Lyon. Sylvie make a wonderful local breakfast each morning and is happy to recommend fun things to do each day if you’re curious. Sylvie also booked a car to the airport on the final day so there was no stress. Great experience!

Sylvie was welcoming and helpful, even lending me a coat when it rained. The location on a quiet side street in the old city is ideal. Plus, if you walk uphill then you will soon reach the Roman theater and museum. Altogether a memorable weekend in Lyon!

Sylvie is an amazing hostess. She prepared wonderful French/Lyonnaise style breakfasts and was very helpful providing information to this first time visitor to Lyon. First and foremost, the host Sylvie is a rare gem. She cares and is deeply invested in her role providing a comfortable atmosphere and setting. You will not find a better host than she. Warm, graceful, accommodating, organized, thoughtful and funny are just a few of her qualities. The room is gorgeous and cozy. All amenities are provided; she has thought of all the essentials and then some. The view of Lyon from the room is amazing. On a clear day the Alps are visible in the far distance. For breakfast she is extremely generous, happily caters to your preferences and remembers them. The location in vieux Lyon is incredible. There are tons of cafes and restaurants within just minutes walking. Whether it’s traditional Lyonnais fare or more modern and creative, the food is of the highest order, in keeping with Lyon as a world culinary capital. Museums and parks are also easily walkable distances. For a homey, personalized experience you cannot do any better than to stay with Sylvie. I will definitely be returning, whether as a tourist again—there were a few things I didn’t get round to doing—or as a retired person. That’s how much I loved the place and experience.

Sylvie is one of the best hosts you'll ever meet. She greeted us warmly when we arrived and her genuine friendly nature carried over during our brief stay in this 16th- century building. Actually, it feels more like a castle, with concrete steps, a winding staircase and old-world charm throughput. But there's nothing old-fashioned about it. The room is modern, spacious snd even has a jacuzzi. Sylvie's attention to detail is extraordinary, matching or exceeding many 5-star hotels. She really knows how to pamper her guests. What's more, Sylvie fixes a sensational & filling breakfast every morning. She enjoys hosting people and it shows. She's always smiling, laughing and makes you feel special. Stay here when you're in Lyon. Sylvie's hospitality can't be beat.

Great location in historic neighborhood. Easy access to everywhere. Sylvie is amazing host. We contacted her about late arriving and received very nice welcoming at 11 pm. She served unbelievable breakfast every morning on time which was convenient for us. She answered all our questions and gave us a lot of information about restaurants, shopping etc. The room is clean and filled with all things that you need to feel comfortable. A real treasure in Lyon

We stayed with Sylvie for two nights as part of our trip across France. Of the many hotels we stayed in, none of them exceeded the service and hospitality that we got from Chez Sylvie. The host, Sylvie, goes above and beyond to make her guests comfortable and to ensure they enjoy their time in Lyon. Even when my partner and I had to wake up extra early to catch our train, Sylvie didn't hesitate to also wake up early and make sure we left with our bellies full with a good breakfast. And the view from her suite? Unmatched in all of Lyon. We would definitely stay with her again if we find ourselves in Lyon. We recommend her without hesitation. Merci, Sylvie!
