Luis, one of the property owners, made our stay really enjoyable. He's personally invested in all aspects of this boutique hotel/villa concept and he and his staff really worked hard and went above and beyond to help us (a family of 5) figure out where to go, where to eat, etc. He had AMAZING restaurant recommendations.
So first, a little about the property. It's brand new (opened December 2023) and is right across from a fantastic boutique coffee and chocolate farm (with a really worthwhile tour). The location is a walk away from a strip of stores (grocery, a couple of restaurants, etc.) and a very short drive away from downtown La Fortuna which has more restaurants and shops. We stayed in one of two 2-bedroom/2-bath units with a small pool - it's a beautiful architectural place with a really stunning patio/pool area where you can see the volcano on a clear day through some of the other units (there are 8 in total, I think). They are modern, clean, airy and light.
Everyone gives 5 stars and I think that rating is seriously overused. So don't take 4 stars out of 5 as a negative thing - take it as just an honest opinion based on the state of things at the time. Little details were still being sorted out and Luis was gracious in taking our un-solicited suggestions which we felt compelled to give because we connected with Luis and his passion for the business. I have little doubt that Bauma will have tons of 5-star reviews in the near future.
