Traditional place to stay in Kyoto

Perfect quiet spot to stay in Kyoto. A beautiful traditional tatami mat place with a shared kitchen and toilet, private room and shower/bath. And only a few minutes walk to transit (either JR line or bus)! Our host took the time to orient us to the facilities and surrounding area and even had local art displayed in the ryokan. The only downside was that the sleeping mats were a bit hard, as expected of sleeping on a traditional mat and tatami floor. Also, like many things in Japan, expect to pay cash up front for your stay when you arrive. Thanks Ocashi!

Nice owner, felt very authentic, cool modern art, nice mingling with other guests. Hard to find on Google maps and phone number listed wasn’t correct, but owner super nice and helpful. Great neighborhood, very residential.
