Staff friendly and helpful. Room was really nice overlooking the river. Also very well cleaned. Food was fantastic. Some of the best pappaya salad i have tasted. Parking good for larger motorbikes as well. Good location bear to a few bars. I will certainly be going back there again.

Pongphen guest house is amazing it sits right along the river so try to get a room with a river view as it's amazing the staff were friendly and it was in a good location to visit places and a 30 second walk and you are in the town where's there's bars and restaurants for stuff to do in the evening

Fantastic place to stay - very good value! I stayed in one of the bungalows which had a nice, small balcony. Location is excellent - off the Main Street, but still quiet. Breakfast, which was included, was very tasty! I liked it so much, I extended my stay by two days.

We loved our stay at Pongphen Guesthouse. Great location. Easy walk to many restaurants, convenience stores, etc. 15 minute walk from Kanchanburi train station (where you board the Death Railway) and the Death Railway Museum and War Cemetary. Staff was super friendly and very helpful in booking tours and telling us what to see. Located along river, we had some beautiful sunset views! They were doing some construction by the pool which was a bit noisy during the day but otherwise it was fabulous!

Favourite place to stay in kanchaniburi

Amazing place, very clean and friendly and quiet. A lot of freedom. Other clients seem to be mostly older gents and their local wives, but no trouble or noise. Favourite place to stay and will be back. Pool is amazing

We had a wonderfull stay at Pongphen. Everybody was super friendly and our 4 year old daughter also loved the place. Very good breakfast, very good food in the evening, quiet, fantastic staff, nice swimming pool and walking distance from the bridge, the night market and restaurants. If we ever come Jack to Kanchanaburi we will definately stay here again. Thank you!!!

Great location wonderful staff

The staff was amazing and wonderful location. The breakfast was good, standard, but good. Room was large. Had to have the key in the slot to use the AC. No issue since most rooms seemed to have a secondary padlock style latch and we used our luggage lock to lock our room when not there. Bed was rock hard. I like a hard bed but these were plywood hard.

Cute and quirky place in a great location. Loved late afternoon beer overlooking the river. Very tranquil. Just one thing....some travellers are not considerate enough on their own in terms of their smoking habit around others. I wish they would ask guests to not smoke on the restaurant area, certainly not during breakfast hours.

Our hotel room was big and clean but the door didn’t close completely so that geckos or cockroaches could enter the room. The pool was ok but right next to a construction site. The work started at 8 o’clock in the morning… The breakfast was ok but we like buffet more than a la carte. The staff was friendly and helpful. And it was nice that you could reach the river kwai bridge with a nice long walk.

Perfect and authentic.

This was one of the best hotel experiences I’ve stayed at globally. It was so quaint and authentic. The setting was beautiful, at the end of the road made it quiet with trees and plants around to seclude. At the very end it overlooked the river and the pool was perfectly positioned. The restaurant is open all day and had a very extensive menu of Thai and Western foods at very reasonable prices. We ate here at every meal. Included breakfast was a choice of eggs on toast, cereal, pancakes or muesli plus drinks. The room was large with AC. The bathroom was a wet room with an electric shower that wasn’t particularly heated but it wasn’t needed in the Thai weather! Location allowed a good walk to the River Kwai bridge and outside of the war cemetery & death museum.
