"The space was generally nice and clean however we encountered multiple issues. Checking in is complex and done remotely and there were technical issues so we couldn't get into the building until a stranger let us in.

"Relais Garbatella is well-situated in a very local Roman neighborhood in Garbatella. "This isn't a hotel, it's an apartment as stated. That means more room, more (r)homey vibe and a more private stay. We absolutely loved it. Granted, the information was sparse but communication thru the Hotels.com app worked and (ones we figured it out fully) the door opening-site online worked a charm!
The room was well above standard and very well kept.
The surrounding area is less touristy and more local vibe. Good food, nice atmosphere and way less crowded than more central locations.

"Unlike the 5-star reviews I haven’t got much good to say. The “guest house” is in fact a bedroom in a small condo apt shared with 3 other bedrooms, a common sofa, and small kitchen— even if you did cook, nowhere to eat. "I was informed only when I go there about a "rule" that a room could only have 3 occupants. I was traveling with my wife and 2 daughters. We just spent 7 days together on a cruise in a shoebox of a room yet were not allowed to share a room here. They forced me to get another room at $300 Euros! They wouldnt even work on the price with me. TOtally unacceptable and I felt robbed!"

"The airport shuttle (8EUR pp) was really useful as the taxi queue was crazy & Uber drivers kept cancelling. Decent gym facilities, didn’t get time to try the pool or breakfast (it finishes at 10am).
