We decided to stay at Great Fosters instead of an airport at Heathrow and we are really happy we did. The cab ride from airport to hotel was a flat 80UKB which for a 5 mile ride is nothing short of highway robbery so that put us on a bit of downer to be honest. We checked in late so the hotel was very quiet. We were escorted to our room by a lovely desk clerk. The room was not in the main house but we were ok with that. It was a fairly well appointed room but what let it down was the flooring. It was cheap engineered wooden flooring that creaked and moaned, was poorly locked together so there were gaps in the planks but apart from the bed was comfortable the linens were nice and it was really quiet so we slept really well.
We had breakfast the next morning. Staff were nice, food was above average but only just. Service was the same. After breakfast we had booked massages as we were on an 11 hr west coast flight. The massage itself was good but weirdly the ambient music kept repeating itself with a good 1 minute gap every cycle which was around 3 minutes and this was really distracting and also a little awkward when it was silent....
The we explored the grounds and .... WOW. They are stunning, a window back in time to a very well manicured English stately garden complete with little curiosities, a lake, geese and enough flowers to make 1000 weddings happy, truly glorious.
Check was smooth and once again provided by really lovely staff.
Would recommend.
We absolutely love this hotel from the check-in to the service. The only issue is our room was extremely hot to the point that we had to move to another room in the middle of the night that we moved to was much cooler very comfortable. We loved it.
Room was absolutely boiling, could not sleep. Given 3 useless air-cooling units that did nothing..complaint not taken seriously and £5 compensation given.
Grounds nice, food at wedding and door staff great.
Based on the ridiculous heat in the room, I would not recommend.
Beautiful hotel. Had a cosy double which had plenty of space.
Breakfast had plenty of options hot/cold.
Pool was lovely and warm as well as hot tob
Only negative I have is that pool should be able to be used on day of check in and check out as only being able to use after 3pm and before 11am doesn't allow for much time of use
Very impressive and expansive grounds and historic house hotel very close to Heathrow. We used it as one might an airport hotel, but enjoyed a leisurely breakfast then strolling the gardens and grounds before getting a car for a 9 minute drive to the airport before our flight. Though some of the property could use some updating and more refined curation, for the most part, given its age, it is a fantastic spot. Just outside of London, it would also be ideal for a night or weekend getaway, a special occasion, or for a company retreat - the gardens alone, make it worth a stay. Staff was amazing
We came for a quick stopover and were so pleased with the exceptional service by everyone, the rooms were lovely and the gardens fantastic. We had breakfast and dinner, both quite good.
Beautiful property - we got the teepees for the kids to kids to sleep under and they were over the moon. Afternoon tea outside in the garden was gorgeous. Thank you Great Fosters for a lovely stay
