"The room was clean, but in need of some TLC. The lights did work, when the receptionist was told she came fiddled with the light bulbs, eventually they came back on. Once turned off they would not come back on. Very much felt that was an issue the hotel knew about, but had not fixed. The staff at breakfast were not welcoming. When the breakfast came the bacon and black pudding were not fully cooked. The sausage was poor quality and very peppery. Rather disappointing. Will not be staying again."

"Nice hotel , nice garden with places to sit in among the ducks. Clean rooms . Bit unsure on how to get into the model village on site , no information on it anywhere. Got to the gate only to find you needed a ticket from reception which is a good way back up hill so didn’t bother. Sign at reception would have been a good idea. Lovely receptionist when we checked in but the one in the morning was so miserable, never smiled and just seemed like she didn’t want to be there . Having said that...

"We booked the hotel for its location close to the centre. Generally this area is a bit run down. The room was dusty, the toilet left dirty. We had to remove 3 spiders from the room. On arrival after a long trip, our room wasn’t ready but we were encouraged to head to the bar. After serving us, the barman the started hoovering!"

"This gorgeous B&B in Keswick was delightful. The staff were so wonderful, friendly and helpful, the breakfast was amazing and the rooms very clean and comfortable! The location was great, a perfect place to end days ambling in the hills. I couldn’t more highly recommend a place to stay."

"This hotel has been the top hotel in Carlisle for a century it more I imagine. On my recent visit I was impressed that the rooms we had in the main classic part of the hotel had been brought up to a very good modern standard. The annex at the rear of the hotel we had last year were more modest but benefited from a fabulous view of the cathedral."

"Its an older hotel - although updated a certain amount (Bathroom looked fairly new) - good location closed to the town centre, decent sized rooms, staff were great, and the breakfast was very good! No on-site parking, but there are several close by car parks (they've got the information at reception). Pro tip - The Sandes Avenue carpark a few mins walk away is only £1.50 for the entire day (If you buy a ticket after the charging period ends at 6pm it'll be good for the entire next day) Wifi...
