The staff was very kind and courteous. It is a family run business as are many smaller hotels in Costa Rica. We felt safe and secure. It was a very basic room , but it was clean and comfortable. Again, the staff was the best.

Overall, our stay at Barceló San José was okay. The hotel, rooms, and lobby were clean, and the staff was nice. However, the pool area could use better maintenance since there were a lot of leaves and debris, especially in the kiddie pool. The hotel also feels a bit outdated. Breakfast was just okay ...
