Nice comfortable stay, rooms are nice as well as bar and restaurant, my only criticism would be the strange smell in the room! Smelt almost like a drain was blocked.
I was not aware the restaurant would be closed in the evening which was a huge disappointment. The receptionist on departure did not seem to take on board how much this spoilt the visit as the hotel was chosen bearing in mind the excellent food reviews. We travel regularly to the area and are seeking a regular venue but for this reason only would not choose Dovecliff Hotel.
Fabulous stay. Can't fault the place for a small hotel with a personal feel ie not corperate. Great wifi, large beds, spacious rooms, value for money, good breakfast and so on
Liked the property very much it is undergoing improvements to restore Hall to former glory but this did not impinge on our stay.

Comfortable stay.
Could have done without foreign guests making such a noise at 6.50am on a Sunday morning - very inconsiderate.

A lovely place that has a calm aura and has retained its Georgian charm.
in need of a little more tlc. Such as a toilet seat that fits the toilet, holes in the armchairs in the drawing room.
Breakfast good. Dinner needs some adjustments. Need new cutlery and glassware. More expensive tableware really does add to the overall dining experience.
Staff very helpful and friendly.
I enjoyed my stay and will return.
A pleasant one night stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is being restored to its former glory by the current owners. It really is a lovely building set in its own grounds. We would have loved to explore the grounds - with the orchard and the path to the river Dove, but it was wet, windy and we didn't have the chance. I guess that means we will have to come back!
We really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is spotless and the room was beautiful and extremely comfortable. The grounds were stunning with beautiful walks by the river. The only thing that disappointed us is that we stayed on a Sunday night and the restaurant was shut which we had not been informed of when we booked.

Superb!
Lovely peaceful spot, comfortable beds and nice quality bedlinen and towels. The standout for me was the food - I had the best steak dinner and reasonably priced. Breakfast was waitress service in the restaurant and I was a bit worried it might take a while - but no - super fast and delicious hot breakfast!!
Lovely quiet hotel, beautiful location, very clean with comfy beds. Breakfast was underwhelming & could do with a bit more imagination. The restaurant is not open Sunday evenings: we have never before stayed in a hotel that does this & it is very strange & inconvenient. We would however stay here again - but not on a Sunday!
Delightful small country hotel - a little bit "faded" but friendly helpful staff, excellent food and comfortable rooms on the large side and spotless ly clean

Lovely overnight stay
We stayed for just one night. We found the place very welcoming and accommodating. Dinner was very good and prices for both food and drink very reasonable. Hotel is a little on the tired side but they are working towards updating it. Plenty of hot water, tea & coffee making facilities in the room and good quality bed linen. We would stay here again and recommend it if you are travelling in the area.
Just a superb property.
Staff very friendly.
My travel plans had been delayed due to the weather and staff were very accommodating for my late arrival.
Room was very well presented and the finishes were superb.
Breakfast was of an exceptional quality.
classic out of the way country house hotel - Ideal if you want a quiet venue with a big of clASS AND LOTS OF SPACE
cleaning good - but not the venetian blind in room 6 - that needs serious work - But it wouldnt put me off staying there again, the people are great and its the kind of hotel I seek out
The staff were very friendly and food was good - location was very relaxing and peaceful. The rooms were quite traditional and accepting the building was over 200 years old - were comfortable
Bar service was also good
We arrived very late due to a traffic accident but the staff were brilliant, made check in so smooth, helped us to our room and sent some food up even though it was around midnight. Breakfast was very tasty, staff were again very friendly and efficient. Highly recommended.
All staff were very helpful and food and service were generally excellent Our room had stupendous views over the river and the countryside and had useful table and chairs on the patio
