The accomadations were fabulous. The host and hostess kind and welcoming. The pool was relaxing. I am giving it a 4 stars only because you could not walk anywhere. Every trip away was $40.00+ taxi fee, which adds up daily. I expected the accomadations to be more convenient and walkable.

An excellent mason d'hote. Valerie, Laurent and Tom are kind and knowledgeable. The views from the room and the kitchen rival any in Papeete.

Maison Taina is located in the hills above Papeete. It is an attractive two storey property that catches refreshing breezes and has fabulous views of the reef. Accessing the rooms upstairs for people with limited mobility could be an issue but there was plenty of help for me with suitcases.You definitely need a car to access food from stores, restaurants etc that are close by but not within walking distance or you need to stock up on food supplies before you get to the property. A taxi fare from the port to the property cost US $30.00.From the property to the airport US$50.00. My room and bathroom were spacious and featured a balcony with outdoor seating.Valerie was very happy to provide anything needed. The breakfast was served in the pool house which is there for the guests to use. It has a large fridge for guests' food, filtered water, a dining table and chairs and even fresh free bananas from the garden. Breakfast is served here every morning consisting of fresh fruit and delicious pastries and wonderful, authentic, french coffee. Wine is also available to purchase. The pool is refreshing and maintained to a high level.I really enjoyed my stay here due to Valerie's friendliness and helpfulness and the opportunity to meet other guests in the other three rooms. A great base for sightseeing in Tahiti or for me a lovely place to just relax after a cruise and before a flight home.Thank you so much to Valerie and her lovely family for looking after me so well. This was our favorite location on the island of Tahiti. The hosts were friendly and helpful and the lodging was very comfortable, with A/C, a very nice pool, and a lovely breakfast served by the host. It was probably the best value of any place we rented during our trip. If i ever return to Tahiti I will most definitely stay here!

Everything was perfect, this host has really thought of everything and it had everything you needed to feel comfortable on vacation. It felt like a home away from home. We will be coming back.

A very special place

This is a great place to stay; only 4 rooms, each slightly different, but with great facilities and views. Kitchen/dining room for use of guests is also a pleasant place to be. Great hosts who are good to talk to and share their experience of moving to Tahiti from France and their knowledge of their adopted home. A very special place indeed.

Valerie, our host/owner, was amazing and attentive to all of our needs. We enjoyed the property and the views of Ārue and the beach. Breakfast was great! Croissants are the best! They’re made in house and fresh. Also, Valerie was very knowledgeable of activities and landmarks for tourist to visit. We recommend to anyone visiting tahiti for the first time and looking to get away from big resorts and hotels. Great place!!!

This property is high end. You’re above the hustle and bustle of Tahiti with endless views of the ocean. The full French breakfast in the open air space makes the experience. Take time to get to know Valerie and Lawrence. You’ll be a changed person from their peaceful style.

We absolutely adored the guesthouse, the balcony, cool and cozy decorated rooms, the view, garden, pool and breakfast. We were met with nothing but smiles from Valerie and her family. We wish we could have stayed longer.

Inaccurate information - beware!

Hosts Valerie and Laurent were friendly and helpful but this does not override the fact that the information they supplied is inaccurate. There is no restaurant and no coffee shop. They used to offer evening meals but ceased to do this a year ago! There is a breakfast area, but no coffee bar or café, just a coffee machine. All really misleading. I was looking forward to resting in the mountains for a few days. I was between hectic tours and didn’t want to be energetic. Pool and restaurant sounded fine. Except there was nothing in the area to eat at all and nearest shops and restaurants two miles away, down the mountain road. A taxi just down the road to the coast cost 20 USD. Valerie pushed me into renting a car and to be fair, fixed it up for me, driving me to the rental place. So I ended up touring, which was not what I had planned or budgeted for The room was fair. The safe was locked and I couldn’t use it. There’s the teeniest bin you ever saw in your life. Just the one, in the bathroom. It’s a fight to open or close the curtains; the pole is too large for the holes. I have a kettle, tea bags and a bottle of water in a fridge. But no cutlery, mugs or glasses. Nice terrace and swimming pool. Obscured views to the sea and the mountain. Neither are stunning. The Wi-Fi here is shockingly slow to non-existent. I ask about it but am dismissed and told it’s my phone that’s the problem and no-one else has ever complained. Except the Wi-Fi works perfectly on my phone when

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Maison Taina. Everything was lovely and the hosts were extremely hospitable, friendly, polite, and knowledgeable. The space was immaculate and the sun rise and sun set views were breathtaking! If you're staying in Tahiti i would definitely reconsider staying here!

A Truly Warm and Welcoming Stay! From the moment we arrived (even at 2am, thanks to Valerie waiting up for us!), we felt right at home. Valerie, Laurent, and Tom made us feel like part of the family. We had good chats about local life in Polynesia. The accommodation is clean, cozy, and spacious - perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. you’ll need a car since it’s up in the hills, but the drive is easy. Every morning, Valerie spoiled us with a delicious breakfast - fresh fruit, pastries, and eggs to start the day off right. Plus, her local tips were spot-on! As first-timers in French Polynesia, we really appreciated her advice not just for Tahiti, but for the other islands too. She even helped us arrange an unforgettable snorkel tour in Moorea with Captain Taina, where we swam with stingrays, reef sharks, and turtles. A highlight of our trip so far! We can’t recommend this place enough!
