Overall a great stay. Staff friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfasts. Hotel is a little tired, but rooms clean and bed comfortable. Location perfect for Aldeburgh town and beachfront. Parking is free at the hotel or on the roads outside.

Nice bedroom overlooking sea. Comfortable beds and furniture. Hostess tray well supplied. Good bathroom for an old hotel. Staff very helpful and breakfast was excellent. Lift out of order which was a problem as my husband has mobility issues but staff moved luggage for us.

Very good value for Aldeburgh. Delightful and helpful staff in all areas. Good sized bedroom and bathroom. Only one improvement that could have been made would have been to be able to open the sash windows to allow for fresh air in the bedroom.

Great choice, the location was wonderful and as we arrived on public transport we found we could visit everywhere we wanted the same way. The room was warm and well looked after, even had bathrobes in the wardrobe. Breakfast had first class choices and was beautifully presented and cooked.

We have stayed here many times in the past and have very happy memories of our times The hotel seemed to have a tough time during and after Covid lockdowns but has bounced back. Very pleased to see the dining options are now back, the fish and chips are excellent!

A very sad and unloved hotel. Shocking state of repair both outside and in the bedroom. Ancient, scruffy furniture, peeling wallpaper, threadbare carpet, horrible bathroom, the worst loo roll seen since Izal in my infant school loos in the 70s. No plug sockets at bedside. Sea view obscured by filthy windows 😒 Room appeared clean, comfy bed, breakfast OK, breakfast room actually quite nice relatively, very good eggs... Not the cheapest hotel we've ever stayed in but probably one of the worst.

Wonderful place and wonderful staff, a few tweaks

Lovely hotel and lovely staff however systems t support their efficiency are not in place so we fell victim a few times to being left without being asked if we needed anything. Our final breakfast took 25 mins from seating to being offered even a drink.

A great place to stay

Very welcoming helpful staff. Rooms were very clean and the bed was really comfortable. Everything was thought of in the room including a fan which was great if you like to have the room cool. The breakfast was amazing and you could choose whatever you wanted from the menu. It was easy free parking right outside of the hotel which is great for anyone with mobility problems. Overall a great place to stay.

All round comfort

We stayed for 3 nights and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. The hotel was super clean and cosy with the gorgeous Christmas tree decorated! The rooms were lovely, the bed was comfy and the en-suite was so clean. Highly recommend

Comfortable traditional hotel, great location

Great location for town and beach. Very comfortable & relaxing. A little old but well-maintained. All staff very welcoming, polite and helpful. Very good breakfasts. Would definitely stay again.

The WiFi is slow, probably the area, Breakfast is very good with plenty of options but could do with being hotter. Dinner options are limited but plenty of other places to eat.

A very welcoming reception that continued throughout our stay. Apologies were given for the ongoing improvements, although these weren't necessary as we weren't inconvenienced. We will definitely be looking to return in the future. For me definitely the most polite and courteous place I have ever visited or stayed at.

Nice size room, bed nice and firm. Bit hot in the bathroom with the heated towel rail on full whack! Could do with some sockets near the bed for ease but otherwise well presented and stocked, thank you!

Wonderful time

We had a lovely stay at the White Lion. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was spotlessly clean. cleaned every day and towels changed. Our room was a little small but that was our fault for booking late. Breakfast and evening meals were delicious. We are booking to go again. Fully recommend.

Very enjoyable stay

Good hotel and reasonably priced.Staff very friendly and efficient. Breakfast excellent and cooked to order. Nice area in the foyer to sit. Room very quiet. Room had an awful view (flat roof and large stainless steel chimneys but) we weren’t in there much. Bed very comfortable.

Needs a facelift

The white lion is in a great position, sadly it is looking very tired, in need of a refurbishment. The staff are very good friendly polite and helpful. The breakfasts were good with plenty of choice, parking was a bit of an issue as there was work going on outside.

Old and tired...windows that would not open and it was very stuffy at night. Shower door stiff and rusty could have had the mould removed from the tiles.Breakfasts not very appetising on the other hand staff were pleasant and made the best of a place that should be condemned .

Every single member of staff was super friendly and helpful. Marked down as i do not beleive the room we stayed in, room 5, is worth £230 per night! We travel a lot in the UK and have stayed in many places with much better room and bathroom at cheaper rate.

Perfect location for a relaxing break

The White Lion is in a perfect spot on the seafront in Aldeburgh, within walking distance of the high street and shops/restaurants. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was hot and plentiful, with a wide and varied selection. We look forward to visiting again.

TV wasn’t working as aerial cable broken. Offered a small discount although we had to ask, but chose to change rooms. This should have been picked up before our stay.

Birthday breakaway

Loved breakfast table service - excellent. Room 16 had no internet although hotel states internet is available throughout the hotel. Happy hour was not identified as to what this actually meant and we were charged different amounts on 2 occasions. Happy hour usually is buy one - get one free or half price - this should be explained in the advert as we only received a small discount. Lovely location for a 3 day break in Aldburgh

Aldeburgh joy!!

I was a bit dubious about this hotel as the previous reviews were a mixed bag but we were pleasantly surprised! Its a lovely place. Our room was clean & comfortable & the bathroom was new & fresh. There was a fan too which i thought was definately a plus point!! The corridors & windows could definately do with a spruce up but thats just cosmetic. Breakfasts were good. Everyone was friendly & we would go back for sure.

Good but not great

Clean and comfortable, although the decor is a little bit tired. Breakfast is fantastic! Biggest bugbear is saying the tap water in the room is not suitable for consumption (why?!), but only providing two tiny bottles of water - simply not enough!
