"Friendly staff"

"I just needed a room for the night to be closer to an event that I was attending at Loyola. For that, the room was perfect. I would also like to shout out to the help I received from the woman that worked earlier on Tuesday and Michael, the night manager. Both were extremely helpful and kind. A couple notes to management on Room 7: the table is about to collapse. If I wasn't so tired, I would have pulled out a toolset and tighten up the bolts. One leg looks to be damaged and may not be repairable. The bathroom is made in such a way that the shower is not separate. Any water in the backend of the shower will drain, however there appears to be no pitch on the bathroom side and the water pools up to the toilet, and if you want to use the sink, you risk tracking water all over the room. I would suggest providing a squee-gee to push that water to the drain. Also, the mirror is really low, and I am of average height and it was pretty unusable. I had to sit on a chair in the room in front of the 5 ft mirror standing in the corner. Also, there is no light above the mirror in the bathroom, so all you see is in shadow. All in all, it was exactly what I needed and I worked around the issues. Thanks"

"The hot tub did not work and the pool was disgusting (stairs were all slippery as if covered by algae). Breakfast was excellent, although they ran out of coffee and it took a very long time for them to replace. In the room the air conditioning did not work and even though the thermostat said 67 the room was very hot. Also, the faucet in the shower was backwards (hot was cold, cold was hot) and very loose. The night staff was nice, but he told us that we could use the backdoor to get back into the hotel after putting the parking pass on my truck but it did not work with the key and we had to walk back around the entire hotel. The receptionist in the morning, despite hearing that we were going to the hot tub, and getting bracelets for it, decided to let us find out on our own that it was not working. Had we known, my fiance wouldn't have specifically gone out at that moment to get a bathing suit. Instead we found out when I went to try the hot tub. When I reported that it did not work she said, "Oh, I know, they are working on it" . This was extremely frustrating. This looks as if it could be a gorgeous hotel, but stuff like that, especially since the hot tub was one of the reasons I booked that location, really brings down the overall quality of the location. "

"The Graduate is very charming and I had a special room with a view and a fireplace! But it comes with all the charm of a boutique hotel, like a slow elevator (and only one small elevator), so don't expect the perks and efficiency of a franchise hotel. But I still prefer it and it feels more like home. I'll stay there again when I'm in Evanston!"

"We came on a work trip for our client with a disability to see the Cubs game. We booked two rooms, asked for adjoining at booking, called ahead, and at check in and still did not receive adjoining rooms. Hotel states that they are wheel chair accessible however the ramp down to the elevator is very steep and downhill. The elevator barely fit the wheelchair and had to be picked up to push it in the elevator. Also beds are extremely low to the ground in the accessible rooms. The doorways are not wide either. Valet did not understand how to take the parking brake off of our van to move it and only gave me 5-10 minutes to come down to the lobby to move the van and or explain how, While I have a wheelchair bound client that needed my full attention to get settled into the room. Just frustrating overall, staff at front desk were very friendly and helpful when we arrived but valet could use some patience and consideration for others especially ones with a disability. Great stay if your not looking for disability accommodations!"

"Stayed one night in a junior suite at Hilton Garden Inn North Shore and had one of the worst nights of sleep in a long time. The bed was extremely firm, and the pillows were completely worn out with little to no support. The room’s air conditioner made things worse. It was loud and oddly placed, with the vent right next to the bed blowing directly on me all night. The bar experience didn’t help either. My martini was poorly made, and the bartender didn’t seem to know how to prepare a Cosmopolitan, which is a pretty standard cocktail. The room layout was also strange and not very functional. Overall, the hotel feels very worn. The carpet in the room was dirty, and the common areas showed visible signs of neglect. This property is clearly in need of a refresh. Would not stay again."

"Let say that I would never come back at least it's the last place available in Chicago. Breakfast was disappointing. Pros: I guess price and location ."
