Beach gets 5 stars - beautiful!!! Very clean, the crew cleans the seaweed if it shows up, many chairs available. On the other side - the cleanliness of the rooms was very disappointing. Rooms are nice but dirty and the cleaning ladies did not care at all! Once even skipped cleaning it al all, had to call front desk to arrange clean towels. Food at the buffets is kept in a room temperature and I strongly believe that is the reason why so many guests get gastrointestinal issues. Some food is located in the area under glass that supposed to cool it but there’s no ice and cooling system sucks. We were seated at Kyoto for the hibachi show and looked under the table curious why our shoes were sticky… it was dirty! Another day we were eating there just by a regular table which thank god was clean. I needed to clean everybody’s glasses using the napkin (check it first if the napkin is clean) as we traveled with the kids. The glasses did not look like they were washed in a commercial dishwasher, rather rinsed in a hurry and placed back. Yuck! Lucky us - no one got sick. The reason to go there again would be to enjoy the amazing beach, Barcelo Bavaro Palace has hands down the most beautiful, clean beach.

Have stayed here twice. Food options have gone downhill. Just wanted my eggs and bacon for breakfast and not available. Hairdryer in room didn’t work. Got really sick of buffet…seemed like a free for all at times, and tables not turned over fast enough, so having to sit at dirty tables at times. Overall though, had a great time.

This is my 3rd trip to this resort over the years with my family. And I can firmly say that the quality of service, up keep of resort and dinning offering have greatly declined. On this trip, 2 out 6 rooms our family booked had termite infestations, which were crawling all over the bed at night. They were able to give us a different room the next morning but not in the same building as the rest of the family because they all “booked”. Note, there was no sympathy or an apology offered when we discussed the termites with the lobby staff for the room change. We even presented pictures of the issue. Food was par to sub par and did not have a good variety. Don’t waste your time at the restaurants as you’ll wait 1 hr for food just to be disappointed, the buffet is generally better. The only restaurant worth making reservations for was the hibachi. The smoothie makers at the buffet were the nicest staff, but buffet regularly had issues with having enough silverware, cups, and ice.
