Beautiful property with a large Japanese Garden and excellent dining facilities. Close to Tenba monorail station and the Tenba Market and only a 12 minute walk from Kokura Station.

Grand reception area but dated rooms that needed some fresh paint and minor maintenance. Nothing wrong, though, for a reasonable stay for a reasonable price in a city that is definitely not a must-see

Beautiful Gardens and location
I was at this hotel (different management) 40 years ago for extended stay. The gardens are as lovely as ever. Another comfortable stay at the hotel.

Disappointing
It was disappointing to say the least. The front looks like a high quality hotel but the room itself is of a shabby motel quality. There is no parking available, only those public ones surrounding it. During check out they seemed to have parking vouchers available but they failed to indicate for which parking area is supported and only mentioned that parking is not supported. Even though I've asked about parking during check in. They charge tax twice it seems? They made me pay a "deposit" during check in despite having paid everything through Hotels.com and during check out they said its tax. The cleanliness of the room was questionable when I found used empty medicine foil on the floor.

Depending on the time, the nearby coin parking may be cheaper, so the guidance will differ depending on the situation.Accommodation tax is not included in the reservation price. We are paying on the spot. No double tax.Sorry for the lack of explanation.

The elevator sensor not working so hit by the door so many times. Futon was so thin and uncomfortable. Pillows collapsed to nothing so neck hurts. Only one room card key provided. Staff was not happy when we asked for extra keys. The extra card keys were not working. Only three breakfast tickets provided even though we booked for four people. Demanded to pay accommodation tax upon check-in (not the time of check-out) but a receipt was not available until check-out. No curtains in the room. Not paying attention to guests. No hospitality.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. However, it could not make up for the obsolete conditions of the hotel. To my astonishment, the bedsheet had the blood stain and I could smell the unbearable odors of sewages. Moreover, there is no onsite parking. It definitely needs to be renovated. The breakfast was alright though.

Need for improvement for non-Japanese guests
Friendly staff doing their best but none speak English. No English translations anywhere. I couldn’t use the Japanese only alarm clock, and I lived in Japan and speak a fair bit of Japanese. About 5 Japanese only tv channels on the small, old tv and the remote channel would be impossible for many foreigners to use. Thin towels and toilet paper. They cater to weddings not foreigners. I stayed at 3 hotels on this trip to Japan and the other 2 had helpful translations for the tv, the breakfast, the air conditioning and so on. You should stay at one of the hotels near Kokura station.

The rooms have a quaint European feel to them. Our blow dryer's cable was broken, and I had a bad lychee at the breakfast buffet. However, the overall atmosphere of the hotel was very nice, and we had a comfortable stay.

Old dirty carpet. This hotel has seen better days. The hotel personnels are not welcoming and one of them was a bit rude.

Modern but vintage designed
This hotel is difinately underrated. We stayed for 2 days and we felt super respected and comfortable. All the furniture are vintage style, great lobby, restaurant, japanese gardenn. Reasonable price. I'd give it 4.5 stars.clean and modern but antuiqe design.

Very nice property with friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful traditional style garden and koi pond, set up to be the backdrop for garden weddings. As a wedding minister who was in Kokura and Moji to conduct weddings at other venues, I can appreciate the value of such an in-house venue for a quality hotel such as this.

The staff are excellent, the food quality was first class. A walk round the garden and time spent looking at the Koi pond gives a nice relaxing feel to the day.

This hotel has style.
This hotel has style. Hotel setting with garden is stunning. Staff were exceptionally professional. My room was dated but they did post a comment that they were revamping the rooms and for me the beauty of the place outweighed anything else.

The clerk at the front desk gave me wrong information about where to catch bus to airport. I asked for info to catch airport limo bus to Kitakyushu airport but clerk gave me information for buses to Fukuoka airport. Made a mad dash to the proper stop after asking bus driver. If I didn’t speak Japanese, I would have missed my flight.

Thank you very much for your feedback. We are terribly sorry the front staff at the time gave you incorrect information. Normally at the front desk, there are 2 staff members that can speak english, if by small chance both the staff members are unavailable, then the other staff will try to communicate with simple english words to every foreigner guests. Perhaps the front staff didn't hear clearly that you wished to go to Kitakyushu Airport or the staff didn't ask and assumed it was to go to Fukuoka Airport. I already informed the staff about this unfortunate event. It is thanks to your feedback that we will be more prepared in order to avoid situations like this one. Dated hotel but alright place to stay
This hotel is about a 3-3.5 star hotel. The rooms are VERY dated and VERY much worn. Totally can use an update. But the staff were all helpful and it was comfortable enough for one night. Didn't eat at the restaurants there, so can't say how they were. But overall a comfortable stay. Value for money is somewhat questionable though.

French-themed hotel. It was interesting. The staff was great and multilingual. They could speak English, French, and German in addition to Japanese.

標準的なホテルと思いますが、スタッフが親切です。 設備に古さを感じますが、洋風の為、これはこれでよいと思える方には良いかと思います。 結婚式と重なっていた事もあり、かなり騒々しい方々がロビーで大声で騒いでおりましたので、毎回このような方々が利用しているのであれば、カップルや家族連れにはおススメしません。

壁、室内ドアに 傷が結構あり、ペンキで塗ればいいのに そのままになっていたので、少し汚く感じた。カーテンも一部 ダランと垂れ下がってるところもあった。ホテルの雰囲気は中庭も素晴らしく、室内もヨーロッパ風な雰囲気もあり、良かったが、一部残念なところもあった。
