"We didn't know that we could occupy the whole house when we booked this place. It was a great experience to live in a local Japanese's place. We rented this place for the 4 of us and it was very comfortable. The house was very close to the local subway station and actually located between the train tracks, which was very convenient. "Surely a great choice for vacation. Spacious, enough for 4 people. Modern design with open kitchen. Love the big bathroom (with bathtub!) and toilet which are connected. Can choose to sleep on beds or tatami as there are plenty extra mattresses. Supermarket within 5-min walk. The owners greeted us warmly when check in and stayed connected during our stay. Everything is fine — would have been perfect if there is a television."

"This machiya is fantastic! I'm so happy we chose to stay in Gion and in a traditional house instead of a hotel. It was very comfortable. Due to it being an older building, insulation isn’t very good and gets very cold in the winter and need heaters in all rooms. Location is not great as it is walking distance to most places.
