We had an emergency and had to leave just after booking, with no facilities used. We had 3 rooms $307.80.which included Two single rooms at full price. Beer was over $10 per pint and child running everywhere. So a very expensive stay for nothing. Not offered any discount on leaving.

The staff, the bar and the food were all great. Room 11 needs to be completely done up. And if you continue to use room 11 get it cleaned properly. I would stay there again but not in room 11.

Thank you for taking the time to review. As we describe our accommodation on the website the rooms are in their original phase and are being refurbished. It is disappointing that the room wasn't cleaned to our normal standards, the bathroom in this particular room has just been fully refitted and only been used a handful of times, the remainder of the room will be upgraded this year. We hope you will return in the future.

The multi plug in our room did not work. There was only one bedside table. It was a Saturday night and the music noise from the bar went on until after midnight with men smoking and cursing outside our room ( which was adjacent to the bar entrance) until 1.30am.

the hotel is placed in a tiny village
There are many artificial lakes in an area with no wide forest. I suggest to be nearer to Mount Cook or the lakes in that area.

Hi Tony, I hope you asked our helpful staff about the surrounding area as we have a beautiful wetland walkway right beside the hotel which runs around the front of the golf course. There are another couple of walkways near by which take you up through forest and look out over the lakes and the Benmore Dam. We are sorry you did not discover the full beauty of our area.

Very basic, not enough power points!
I like the old place, but it could be cleaner. The staff in the attached bar were lovely and the pizza was the best in all of New Zealand (South Island).

I apologise that cleanliness was not up to scratch as we try hard to ensure even though our rooms are older (we have started upgrades) they a presented in a clean and tidy manner. Power points were not a big thing in this era of room and we are addressing this as part of the upgrades. We pride ourselves on providing friendly service and above average food. Thank you for staying with us.

didnt get what we paid for...no TV, No private shower, therefore no toiletries,,beds looked like they had been slept in, dirty towels,beds in bad condition,no service at all, no tea/coffee hard to find.holes in the wall that had not been repaired...just covered up with other boarding.we should have got alot more for what we paid for. NEVER AGAIN

Completely Overpriced for what you get!
Firstly the hotel is not called Otematata bar and eatery making it difficult initially to ensure you are in the right place. The hotel has a musty smell and is very unwelcoming. There are bits and pieces of all kinds of things stacked in the corridor and the office area which is visible is a complete mess. The food is incredibly overpriced although reasonable to eat - i can only assume they know you can't get food elsewhere. Having said the above, the rooms themselves were ok - the double we had was comfortable and clean and the room had all the facilities you might need. The bathrooms looked newly painted. This is in need of a renovation and I would be happy to pay a price for this accommodation that reflected the accommodation but not the price we paid for the untidy place we frequented!

Would love to see the rooms renovated.
The service and food was lovely. Renovations were obviously taking place so there was a strong smell of paint. The name on the outside was different also so we drove straight past it.

Hi there, Thanks for your review. We do recommend that curtains are kept pulled and lights off when not needed during summer nights as we do have three lakes on our back doorstep which can mean bugs at certain times of years. Unfortunately rural NZ does not share the luxury of the high speed broadband that other centres do quite yet. It's on the cards soon which we are excited about. Kind regards Brent

Het hotel ligt ideaal om Mount Cook en de lakes te bezoeken. De receptie is aan de bar. De man was heel vriendelijk. Het etablissement is heel verouderd. We hebben er goed ter plaatse gegeten: lekker en grote porties. In het restaurant heb je gratis WiFi.

景色がきれいで静かなホテル
ホテルの前に広がる景色がとてもきれいで 壮大で 癒されました。従業員の方々もフレンドリーで よかったです。夜は電気をつけておくと 大量の虫がはいってくるので 要注意です！
