Staff was very friendly, but extremely limited communicating in English or German. My room was next to reception and al fresco breakfast area and I was never able to open the shades to let in daylight. Place is conveniently located and walking distance to day and night markets, restaurants and the rivers. It is a good place for budget travelers.

Right in the middle of everything. Morning Market right outside the door. Night Market a slow minute walk down the street. Alms giving ceremony around the corner. Mekong a whole 3 minute walk away. Staff is great. Only complaint was no reliable hot water. Might add to the rustic charm of the whole area. Would stay again.

We enjoyed staying at the Golden Lotus Place. It's a lovely authentic hotel in the heart of the old town, very close to the National Museum, Phousi mountain, the night market and the morning market. The delicious breakfast was lovely in the courtyard outside, with morning market stalls right there in front of us :). The staff were very welcoming and super-helpful, speaking both English and Vietnamese for our bicultural family, recommending places to go and helping with shopping suggestions, and ordering a taxi to the airport when we left. Very recommended for a genuine Lao experience.

Superb!
I had an amazing stay at this hotel, great location, the night market is probably located no more than 100 meters away from the accommodation, a lot of restaurants nearby, it was definitely a good choice!

Nice place!
This is a family owned place right next to the morning and night markets. Clean room with free breakfast and the wifi is good also. Highly recommend.

An excellent stay, definitely recommend
It's an excellent location to experience Luang Prabang. It's very close to where the tuk tuk drops you off after the slow boat too. The staff were really helpful, and sorted some train tickets for us at the last minute. They were very transparent about the commission they'd take for it, which was very reasonable. The breakfasts were good and rooms were great

Rhonard is the main man.
Got a great welcome from Rhonard on arrival filled us in on where to eat and drink in Luang Prabang. Nice room with good bathroom. Good housekeeping with clean towels everyday. Hotel is neat and tidy. Breakfast is superb Rhonard goes out of his way to help with everything. You can watch the world go by the market as you leisurely dine. Hotel is central for everything you need easy to walk to all things you need in LB. To avoid the chaotic night market turn left out of hotel and eat in the restaurants by the side of the Mekong. Great place to stay in LB. Highly recommended.

Clean rooms, towels and bed. Right outside the hotel is the morning market, which is convenient but it gets very busy first thing in the morning. Central location, close to coffee shops and bars.

Overall my experience was good and for its price, I satisfied with it. Pros: they have a few tv channels include fox so I was able to watch Wimbledon there ;) Spacious, clean Cons: Air conditioner right upper your head position while slerp!!!!! To fix it, I just used the duvet to cover my head while sleep, I got a fever(not sure if that was related or not) at the end of my stay. If the hotel could do something about the air conditioner position, that would be super nice and appreciated!!! P.S. Before my stay, I had read previous reviews about this hotel, I was expected some Lao hospitality as previous guests mentioned it so good. However, during my 4 nights stay, I didn't experience much or get to meet the owner... maybe just my case...

The hotel is in a great location but the staff don't even speak Lao well. Only the man whom I think the family leader greeted me at my arrival and gave me little info about the place but the other family members tried to avoid talking to their guests...The a/c wasn't work well at all and still there're some drawing made probably by their kids on the room's wall and that make the room look a bit dirty.

My stay at Golden Lotus Place was amazing. The staff were friendly and accomodating making sure that I had breakfast every morning and that my room was clean. You can't beat the location or value. Fast wifi, good water pressure. Thank you!

Kind and gentle welcome
We stayed eight nights in late Feb/early March 2019. The lady owner couldn't have been kinder or more welcoming, even though her English is limited.The location couldn't have been better as it is on one of the small lanes that become the morning market each day, so you can eat your ample breakfast behind a see- through hedge and watch the early morning local shoppers file past outside in a quiet peaceful way.The power shower was excellent and the towels were changed every day. We did have trouble getting to the guest house on the first day as the shared taxi took us to the Golden Lotus River View Hotel first on the Nam Khan road, so be clear about Golden Lotus PLACE, it needs clearer signs on both ends of the lane, and a sign from the Mekong road would be a great help on first arrival. Once we knew where it was it was so easy to walk around town, and the night handicraft market is just metres away on the main street at the end of the lane.The bed was a bit firm, but we slept well, I needed my portable solar lamp to read by at night as the lighting was dim, but I am in my late 60's so travel prepared to read with dim lighting. There was a hot water heater in the room so we could make a warm cup of tea first thing, and a hair dryer and soap and shampoo were provided, as was drinking water. If we return to the town we would happily stay there again.Many thanks

Very nice people but no hot water for 24 hrs despite repeat requests to solve the problem. Finally moved us to another hotel which was great, but after a long delay. Wonderful breakfast. Wonderful location

Great place
Bill runs this lovely guesthouse. On arrival you receive a welcome drink of fresh fruit juice, and the free breakfasts are some of the best we've had in Laos. Just be aware that only Bill and his wife speak English, but you can ask his staff to find him for you. It's also opposite a monastery (like almost everywhere in Luang Prabang), so you'll hear the morning wake up call. But Bill was very helpful, and the location is right near the night and morning markets.

Communication was a bit of a problem but they went the extra mile for us when we arrived and were not treated fairly by the airport taxi that did not take us straight to our destination. They walked to where we were and castigated the driver and carried our luggage. Our arrival was so late there was nowhere handy to eat so the owner made us up a breakfast (at no cost) to get us settled for the night. Great location: the morning market is right along the street in front of the Golden Lotus Place; there were more than enough activities within walking distance of the hotel to keep us happy for 4 days.

Dishonest, rude owner + noisy building work, AVOID
When we arrived for check in, despite booking months ago, we were told that the hotel was fully booked and taken to another hotel a few minutes away. I told the owner that I was unhappy with this, we had booked months ago and should be given the accommodation we had booked but he told me the other accommodation was full and we couldn't stay there. The alternative accommodation was new with building work still going on so it was noisy. I was eventually given a refund for one night, he later changed his mind and shouted at us and us to leave the hotel with one night still to go and nowhere to stay! It was such a bizarre experience, he was rude and really quite scary.

Is a small guesthouse , location is good and clean . But the WiFi is not working on 2nd floor where our room is. The hotel staff is very friendly but can’t really speak English. The breakfast choice is very limited compared to other guesthouse we stayed. The staff want us to wait at the lobby at 5.20am to collect the food for alms giving , but nobody appeared :(

Centrally located
Luang Prabang is a lovely place to visit. This guest house is in a very central location. Not much English spoken. Make sure you spray the room as we were eaten alive by mosquitoes

Would Come Again
The host was very accommodating and gives you a free smoothie at your checkout, and it was delicious. Communication was difficult in English, however, the host speaks Vietnamese also and same with my girlfriend, so we were able to communicate well. Very nice folks and it is located in a great location right by the night market.

Worst customer service ever
I booked golden lotus for the night market. Got there and waited for 40 minutes in the living room. No one came out to greet me. Told the son to go tell his dad still nothing. I got mad and left. No one treat me this way. Rather take $ lost than stay there for another 40 min and miss out in night market. Terrible customer service. No one should ever go there.

And when I outside I put telephone on the reception table and my phone number I add there also if some one come for check in they can call me and few minutes I come back for help them but I dont know why you not call me ! And then you leave in time , we wait you to twelve in the evening we think you not come for check in , you are not stay with us ,you don't know how to my service but why you said'' terrible customer service ''? While then my family have problem my wife not stay just me to care everything in then time , I so sad when I saw you comment to us just 1 of 5 point However we hope we meet you you for next time in luangprabang for sorry to you with excellent service ! Unbeatable location and friendly staff
I booked Golden Lotus on the strength of its reviews, and I was not disappointed. The location is down a small street almost next door to the Palace, and in the morning you literally step out into the Morning Market and, at night to the Night Market. My room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, and having both an air conditioning unit and ceiling fan was especially appreciated at night, when I got too cold from the A/C but would turn on the ceiling fan and it would be perfect.

Best Staff in SE Asia
Big rooms for a guesthouse, cleaned daily, waters, great breakfast. All for $35 night incl taxes? Staff was the best part though. Owners really care about their guests. They take care of everything for you. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Great central location on a quiet side road. Turn left when leaving the hotel and within a minute you are in the morning food market. In the evening a right turn and a few steps you are into the night market.

A great centrally located place to stay!
Located right at the morning market and so so close to the night market, centrally located Golden Lotus Place is right in the smack of things but yet stay reasonably quiet. The owners were superbly friendly and extremely warm and helpful. The rooms are of the right size with clean beds and ensuite with a good safe. Good shower heads for the showers. (Room 8 is extremely pleasing with windows on both sides) Breakfast was simple but pleasant; and there were a few choices. (My only complaint would be that the coffee is instant coffee but with cafes aplenty....not an issue)

You can't go wrong
It is not a 5 star establishment, but the service is definately 5 star. The family running the hotel ensures you have a good stay. The place id right in the middle of all the actions the town can provide : street shopping, street and restaurant f & b, coffee joints etc. If you love beer, give the local brews a go. You'll not regret it. Lovely larger. The only drawback is that they only provide cooked breakfasts. They don't do lunches or dinners. Sufficient eateries nearby, so no worries.

Our host made it wonderful. He shared his home with us. Offered great advice and organised trips and drivers for us. The last day he let us use his shower, dried our wet clothes and kept us in coffee and comfort. Brilliant location and home from home

The guesthouse has a lovely family feel to it, you really feel as though you are sharing the family home with the owner, but with all the privacy you could want. The owner (unfortunately I didn’t get his name) was exceptional. I’ve never had service like it and he really made our trip special. He sat us down on arrival and spent a brief 5 minutes showing us important points of interest and tourist attractions on a map. He also frequently brought freshly made and complimentary fruit shakes to our room. He organised trips and taxis for us. Even on the last day we needed a short ride down the road in a tuk tuk but he offered to drive us down on his motorbike. Absolute credit to the place. Location is also perfect, the morning and night markets are literally on your doorstep. There are lovely cafes and restaurants on the main road roughly 5min walk away. Overall couldn’t rate this guesthouse highly enough and Luang Prabang stole our hearts too.

Wonderful Stay
My mom and I had a pleasant stay at this bed and breakfast place. The place is accessible to great destinations and attractions that this city offers- from great temples , morning and night market, alms ceremony ,etc . We were highly moved by the unpretentious and boundless hospitality of the young man who was in charge while we were there. His name is Huang or Hoang . He was helpful, kind and knowledgeable. GREAT JOB ! We highly recommend this place .
