TV didn’t have reception at times (not smart tv). Couldn’t call for room service because the phone didn’t work, the cord was loose/broken. I mentioned to the concierge and problem was never resolved in my 5 days stay. Roaches in the bathroom. Hard to sleep-people talking on their phones in the hallway, loud and clear/children running. Concierge needs communication skills, he would get upset when I brought up the issues. Other than that the location is very convenient. You could walk at night and feel safe. Close to Cathedral, experienced callejoneadas, taxi area, very good restaurants, museums at walking distance etc The hotel is nice with a lot of history. It is mentioned if you take a tour bus.

I booked a nice and quite room in the back of the hotel. Upon check-in I was offered a "better and larger room on the frontside with great city views and even a balcony" for $400 extra. There would be a concert on the square, but I was assured it would only be from 8 pm until 10 pm. I accepted the offer and found myself in a extremely noisy room, with a balcony door that could not close and not just the "rehearsal" noise from the concert less than 50 meters away from 3 pm on, but with a heavy power generator for the concert's power supply running just under my window. When I asked to undo the "upgrade", I was told the other room was not available anymore. The building might have some historic value, but infrastructure and above all the service are terrible !! Hardly a 2 star hotel. The only positive element is the location in the historic center of Zacatecas, steps away from the main sqare and the catedral.

The hotel is very old and doesn't look like any repairs have been made in decades. The rooms were not very clean. To be fair it was difficult to judge whether it was because everything was needing care. The sink drain reeked in both rooms which were on different floors. They only have a couple of tiny bars of generic soap. For anyone wanting a budget motel type experience, it's ideal.

A lot of noise from the street

Bed sheets smelled bad. I told them to change it and they did. NO hot water one day and we had to shower with cold water. All the noise in the street on weekends is terrible. Avoid a room with street windows on weekends!!! The building: precious!
