Tis true...I have been known to feel this exact same thing. And, although I would also agree with the quote "It's better to be a lion for a day than a sheep all your life" by Elizabeth Kenny, I do have reservations.

I can't say I felt true fear when confronted by this solitary sheep, but I was inclined to pause when his language of the body reached my mind with a completely understandable "None shall pass!" command.

Sheep get a raw deal. I'm a small man, so I can understand their plight. We idolize the lion, the bear, and the eagle. We make statues of butchers, murderers and tyrants and call them heroes. We mock the sheep and make them symbols of the weak who seem afraid of the butchers, but this alpha male wasn't going to back down. He was there to protect the flock and I am sure would have fought us if we intended to do anything other than continue on our hike. I respect that.

West Dale Beach is secluded and only accessible by walking over the fields from the village. It faces west into the Irish Sea, so it can be flat calm or the waves can be driven crashing onto the beach by a strong westerly. Great location for sunset photography.
