We were initially given a room on the basement floor which did not work for us. It was very noisy and I personally felt claustrophobic without actual windows to be able to see out of. The room was clean but the bathroom shower wasn't clean enough for our standards. We did ask to move to another room, and the staff was able to accommodate us to a room on the 3rd floor. Much better room, but again the bathroom shower was similar to the initial room. Most of the staff were friendly except for three female employees at the bar during breakfast hours. They seemed like they didn't want to be bothered with our questions about the breakfast options. Thankfully the GW Delicatessen was a short walk and their breakfast sandwiches were delicious. The location was great, in the heart of GWU and it was within walking distance to the national mall and museums.

The location of the property is ideal for sightseeing purposes. If you want good food or atmosphere you will find it here. The negative is parking. They have a tie up with a third party at a garage which is across the street. They give you a coupon and tell you that you have free parking there for 24 hours. Well when we were exiting the lot after parking there for way less than 24 hours , the bill came up as $36. We scan that coupon and lo and behold we still had to pay $24. So keep that in mind when you book this property.

What a wonderful place! The room was ultra clean, the vibe was upbeat and urban, the bed and linens were very nice—a the customer service was outstanding! I understand that some may have challenges with the rooms’ sizes (queens or smaller beds), but I think all of the positive characteristics made up for my room’s size. It was more than sufficient for my 2-day stay. When I return at the end of next month, I will upgrade to a larger room to give me the space I need for a longer stay. Thank you to Hive Hotel for your hospitality. You made me feel special and valued. ❤️
