Fantastic hotel. Friendly staff and a great location. The onsite parking was very nice. The room was clean and had an amazing view with a balcony and the hotel location is terrific for seeing the city. We had a great visit.

Hotel is very pretty. Room large, pretty and comfortable. Well designed, but with some modern annoyances - can't use fake card key. Desk clerk very friendly and helpful (Arthur). Own secure outside parking area with gate that is closed at night. Restaurant good, but may not belong to hotel. Internet connection blocks ssh. We have junior suite, which is quite large and very nice. Hotel fronts on canal, and view is fantastic. City is very pretty from this viewpoint. Breakfast good. Thermostat appears to be only decorative. I like this place a lot. Definitely better than the usual 4*.

The hotel is wonderful and almost makes you feel a part of history. Just a great place to stay! Wonderful staff! Many restaurants within walking distance. Very convenient to may WW1 points of intertest (you do need a car).

Les Jardins du Mess is a charming hotel on the Meuse River in Verdun. Our room overlooked the river and the town, which lights up at night to highlight World War 1 monuments. The staff was professional and friendly, the room was spacious and well-appointed, and the lobby and breakfast rooms were lovely. It's an overall fabulous place to stay while in the area.

Gorgeous Hotel; Fab location; wonderful experience

This hotel was one of the best, most luxurious hotels we’ve ever had the pleasure to enjoy. The hotel personnel were friendly and very accommodating; our room was bright, large, and gorgeous; the food at breakfast plentiful and delicious. The hotel sits right on the river, and has a fabulous view. Because of its history, I had a bit of trepidation to stay in Verdun, but my worries were unfounded. The city is thriving and cosmopolitan, and very modern. Loved our stay.

We tailgated into the car park but pressing the buzzer gains the receptionists attention to open the gates - not sure what the parking options are if it’s full as it was fairly quiet when we visited. Check in was easy & there’s a lift to all floors. We had a garden facing room with a big bed, lots of storage and a good size but a bit of a curates egg: brown shag-pile carpet, in the 21st century, really? The weirdest thing for me though is that you can’t alter the a/c temperature yourself, you have to ring reception to get them to change it. That’s just plain stupid. There’s a bar & restaurant, which we used. The fixed price menu is fine apart from the strange whipped cream cheese course which was not pleasant (note to chef - change it!). Verdun is on your doorstep and easily walkable with bars and restaurants just on the other side of the bridge and the tourist information office just around the corner. Tried booking the hotel direct and it was extortionate but affordable through Expedia.

Ghost town!

Nice hotel in a nice location. It was a real shame that the hotel restaurant was closed as there was nothing open in the town in the evening at all! Real shame.
