ot a bad bed for the night

Stayed here for a business trip one night . Initially I had problems contacting the hotel and eventually had to ask hotels.com To step in . Once this issue was solved I arrived in the evening and phoned the Number and was told which room was reserved . It was all fine the man on the phone was friendly . The room was ok as per other people’s review the bed wasn’t particularly comfortable but to find a hotel in mid wales during lockdown was a relief as I travel for work and needed a bed for an early start . I left the hotel at 04.30 . It was a bit chilly in the room due to old windows but the heating was at least on all night . En-suite was clean and in good condition. My only complaint would be the tiny tv and not being able to clear the guide off the screen as the remote wasn’t functioning properly . Overall a good enough bed for the night . Didn’t see a soul at all

My Stay

Had a nice welcome when checking in and was a relaxing bar for a pint and some food. Comfortable and very clean single room. Quite a sizeable room considering it was a single room. It felt very cosy and warm.With tea and coffee in the room. What was disappointing was the pack lunch instead of a proper breakfast. did not like the fact that there was no breakfast service.

Village pub/hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Room was clean and nicely presented but overall expensive for what you get. The room was in the attic with a skylight window only, the bed was saggy and there was little soundproofing between rooms. Decent pub food for evening meal but no real ale available on tap. The coffee with breakfast should be avoided.

Easy enough to find with sat nav. Parking was next to the property with plenty spaces. The owner was amazingly friendly, warm and helpful and very busy. The evening meal was delicious as was the full breakfast. The room was spacious and comfortable with everything I needed for me and my dog. The hotel is a good drive inland away from the coast and very close to devil's bridge. Would highly recommend this place :-)

Good place to stay

The staff were brilliant. Very welcoming and friendly. The hotel is pretty much what you would expect for the price. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was excellent.

Great value for money hotel

If you’re looking for a 5* hotel With lots of facilities then this is not for you. However, if you want a small, family run hotel where cleanliness, service And value is of primary importance then I would thoroughly recommend this place. Friendly staff, bedroom clean and spacious. Public areas small but functional with lots of support from locals in the bar making for a great atmosphere. Food was not Michelin star quality but perfectly fine and great value. Overall a great place to stay when passing through.

Peaceful when adjacent room was rmpty

Enjoyable 2 night stay. However, I was on the top floor, in the eves and the walls were too thin. I could hear all activities in the adjacent room!

Almost a great hotel

Our stay was one of mixed emotions. The room was big enough but the shower cubicle in the room was odd. The mattress on the bed was very soft and saggy which gave us an uncomfortable night. The meals were superb but the bar staff somewhat inattentive. The lad who served the meals was awesome though. Friday night the music in the bar was loud enough to wake us after midnight. We heard someone in another room go down and it went quiet. The staff were generally friendly and helpful but clearly no room service - the bed wasn’t made and the coffee not refreshed. Oh yes, the hotel is NOT in Tregaron but a village about 5 miles away. There is a Red Lion in Tregaron which doubles the confusion. We felt it was value for money and would stay there again. It is almost a great hotel, they just need to attend to a few minor improvements.

Overall the hotel was clean and satisfactory. Food was generally nice. Room was pleasant. However due to the fact that it is also a pub it was very noisy and one night this went on very late. Difficult to sleep so wouldn't be ideal for families with children .

Don't just look at the out side as it's the local. The rooms are fantastic and the staff great. Good pub grub and small breakfast choice ( ample). Highly recommend.

Lovely and comfortable

It was a lovely friendly hotel and very good value for money. The food was good, but the service was outstanding. The rooms were clean and comfortable. It was certainly better than I was expecting. Perhaps the outside needs a little tlc but lovely place.

Well worth it

Check in was quick and easy. Our room was spacious, clean and well equipped. WiFi was good. Just a couple of little points:- The TV remote didn't work (probably just needed new batteries), some of the bulbs in the wall lights weren't working. Not really being bothered about TV ourselves it didn't bother us, but other people might not feel the same. Having worked in travel and tourism myself, I know that these are usually things checked on room changeover. We had an evening meal in the pub which was first class, as was breakfast the next morning.

Great Welsh country pub!

Friendly welcoming staff, big comfortable room, clean bathroom, lovely full Welsh breakfast included (as well as other options of course). We had most of our evening meals in the hotel and they were well cooked and great range of options. Only negative comment could be noise in the evening, but it's a local pub so to be expected, otherwise really great stay, and great value!

Lovely area to stay in and the Red lion was excellent. Nice friendly atmosphere. Nice room but bed could do with a new mattress a bit hard. Otherwise lovely. Nice breakfast too.
