The bed was comfy and it was quiet. There's no elevator, but it's only two flights to the top floor. As a car-free traveller, I liked the central location and got everywhere by walking and city bus.

The staff were rather rude, told we couldnt have anyone but us in the room we paid for! There's NO elevator. Took two of us 45 minutes to get everything up to our room on the 2nd floor. The door at the top kept closing, it's a one way door, so had to walk around and go through from the front. The room onky had a tiny fridge & a kettle, no spoons, plates etc. A few small glasses in the fridge. Someone quietly slipped the "house rules" under out door. No knock just found it when we went to go out. We didn't hear anyone! Weird vibes.

Having pondered over several accomodation establishments on the net, I settled on The City Oasis Inn from the reviews of previous patrons. And I wasn't disappointed. Very friendly and helpful staff, a room that was freshly decorated, modern, spotlessly clean and quiet - with well insulated walls. Modern air con and not the noisy old type meant less noise too. Coupled with a super comfy bed and pillows made my stay in Townsville all the better. So much so, that I extended my stay by several days, predominantly because the room was so good, giving me more opportunity to explore Townsville. The location is an easy walk to both the CBD with its wealth of bars, shops and eateries, and the fabulous Strand for the lazy days by the beach.
