Bad customer service and the pool dirty old like was abandoned..restaurant staff horrible and the food was ok to expensive for the quality of food they gave you…
Wont recommend this place
This property is located in the heart of the jungle and it's beautiful! The only wildlife I encountered was the crabs that tried to take over our romantic dinner on the beach and some other wildlife at that time. Everything else was amazing, just be mindful there is no elevators all stairs...so if you're taking older parents with you be mindful of how they would get up and down. It's an amazing workout tho, my legs are super tight because of it lol...so glad I workout because it could have been a lot worse. Great property for relaxing and that is what we did! Great staff and people!
Pros: beautiful property in the middle of the jungle, private beach, and delicious food at the restaurant. They were very kind to upgrade our room close to the beach. It was a beautiful 2-story villa with a kitchen, private pool, a balcony, and AC in the bedroom.
Cons: lack of honesty and services
Leading up to the trip, we received a few emails telling us about all the activities and services available in the resort. They offered complementary hiking and snorkeling, and we could pay for yoga classes, spa treatments, romantic packages, and activities such as surfing, hikes on Mombacho and Omepete island, etc. None of that was available once we got there.
We asked the reception to book activities and they said they would call amd organize them. They never did. After a few days, we decided to book them ourselves through tour websites. We even asked them to call a nearby golfing course and they said they would. After 3 days, they said the golf course hadn't answered yet. My partner emailed the golf course and we got a response within 5 minutes.
The staff at the reception were very kind, but not helpful and the lack of honestly from the management really disappointed us. The restaurant staff were always great and the service was excellent. The reception even gave us the wrong opening hours for the restaurant so we showed up late one evening. The staff were still there and were so extremely kind to prepare us a meal even after closing.
The rooms need love. Stains on the sheets and curtains. Cobwebs. You can tell the room wasn’t used for a while. Also. They don’t clean the pool before you get there so expect lots of leaves and bugs in the pool. The fan in the living room didn’t work so we had to sleep together in the bedroom. Also the hotel was super short staffed so the poor girl who attended the front was also attending the kitchen.
Such an amazing stay! Beautiful views, friendly/attentive staff and incredible rooms. I was lucky enough to get a visit from a family of monkeys as well. Overall such a great stay.
I had a great experience at Aqua. The staff were accommodating and welcoming. The cabins are beautiful, hearing the trees dance in the wind and the waves on the shore- you cannot bet that. The beach itself is amazing and sunsets are in perfect view. Very happy with my stay and would highly recommend.
This was an enjoyably relaxing unique experience for my wife and I. We’ve never been so close to nature while enjoying such pleasant creature comforts and astonishing views. We even got a good scenic walk and stair work out in daily while walking back and forth to the beach/restaurant. The staff was awesome, super friendly and accommodating to our needs.
Property was ok, felt a bit abandoned, I found out that they just switched to a new administration and they will be making changes which I did see, our room was excellent, pool was dirty when we got there but they cleaned it right away, whatever problem we encountered they took care of us inmediately, I love that. We had a hiking tour guide named Will, he was outstanding, I can see him in a leadership role for the resort, he knows the property in and out. Overall I definitely recommend this place, we stayed in a luxury suite with a beach view, kitchen and pool with breakfast included, very nice. If you stay in a suite with a kitchen, bring your own food, you have a fully equipped kitchen.
Gorgeous property however two issues I have to mention. It is not as private as it looks in the pictures, another cabin is right next to it and whoever passes behind the cabin can see the pool patio. Another thing to note, there is absolutely nothing in the town around so we mostly hang out in the cabin. The private beach for the resort is nice tho so if youre planning on not doing anything besides staying in the lodge this could be a great option
This place is perfect if you're looking truthfully to "get away". It is secluded, safe and peaceful. They do offer the wellness activities and services, but not a regular program - this is more self directed, which I was fine with. If you want a service, just ask and it will be arranged for you by the front desk. Breakfast, if included with your room, is the traditional breakfast (eggs, rice, bananas, coffee) or pancakes and provided literally seaside. The front desk and services were extremely friendly. Being a small resort, they come to know your name and room and are always happy to help.
There are a lot of stairs, but after a couple of days, I got used to it. The trade off is a truly quiet and private place, safe enough that I forgot my keys a couple of times and didn't worry too much.
A great place to reset yourself.
Perfect couple's mini-getaway in the Pacific Coast
This was a very nice surprise. Aqua Nicaragua is situated in El Gigante and enjoys their private bay with white-ish sandy beach, live music on Saturdays, great fish and seafood menu, friendly staff, spotless clean rooms, my cabin was located very close to the beach and restaurant area so I didn't have to walk very far
the good:
-super attentive staff, they borrowed me mosquito repellent which I had forgotten in Managua
-plenty of extra activities available, from monkey to sea turtles, yoga classes, kayak riding, snorkeling, the works!
-breakfast and dinner food was just great
-at least my cabin was very well maintained, with AC and a fan which combined provided a nice cool temperature, I had a nice terrace overlooking the bay, a comfortable bed, and unbelievably stable WiFi connection in my room
the bad:
-if you are not situated by the beach, there will be a lot of walking in the wooden cat walks up and down stairs to get to the action area (beach, restaurante, etc.), but you do have to know that when you book this resort
-I would advise to come by 4x4 pickup to the resort (the roads are not great)
the ugly:
-nothing, I wished I was able to stay 1 more night :-)
Waves and wellness, leave your electronics at home
Beautiful resort, lovely lodge, pristine bay. The only downsides were the very poor wifi signal in our two treehouse rooms, and the unpleasant - verging on surly - attitude of our receptionist, Haydee. She had a disinterested approach to our request to understand why the wifi didn't work, and then treated us like we were just a bother to her when we explained that our request had gone hours unaddressed. Turns out the router is not located well for the upper rooms, a fact quickly communicated by the technician I had to corral. Altho you don't go there to stayed connected, a little more courtesy on this particular employees part would have been nice. Food is great but pricey although you have no other options. All other staff were great, the kayaks and snorkeling equipment are free and good quality, and the bay on Playa Gigante outstanding.

Unique Stay in Nicaragua
I booked Aqua Resort at the end of a week long active trip in Nicaragua to relax and unwind. Overall it was a nice stay as long as you are aware of a few things.
Pros: The view from my suite (Sapote LS) was one of the most beautiful sights I've seen with clear view of the ocean. The plunge pool was perfect for the hot temps. The room was spacious and there was an additional room/kitchen if you want to prepare your own food. The beach was private and so pretty. I enjoyed the restaurant although it is expensive for Nicaragua. Playa Gigante is about a 30 min walk if you want cheaper options for food/drinks. The service was great. I was able to reach the front desk via WhatsApp and they tried to quickly resolve issues.
Cons: If you do not like or cannot do many stairs, you will have trouble at this hotel. But it is a treehouse set up so that is to be expected. If you do not like nature this may not be the hotel for you. I encountered monkeys, raccoons, scorpions and other wildlife but again you are in the trees. My main issue was my A/C did not work well which made for uncomfortable sleep when its 85 degrees at night. They tried to fix it but it only temporarily improved. For the price of the room this should not be an issue. I also felt they could have had better toiletries in room for the price.
I would stay again if they worked out some of the kinks. It truly is a unique place.
I will start with the first day. The lady in the receptionist was very nice no complaint w her. At the bar area the workers were very nice and helpful. We order plenty and the staff were helpful. After the band stopped playing they started playing music in a radio and we asked if they can play a few songs in Spanish and we asked the person claiming he was the owner he said he was Argentinian. He was the one who hires the band. He said he won’t play any of the songs we request because he has white customers he needs to satisfied. I am from nicaragua and I felt offended when he said that. Acting as if our music is terrible even though he’s in nicaragua. I told my wife don’t worry I’ll just play that back in the room. He said I will call to shut your power off. After spending over $600 here and being treated like this. I will make sure I never come back. He made another joke about adding drinks to my tab as if I was broke. He was sitting with his girlfriend who was smoking all night long. He was arguing with other customer who had a dog. I know this man is not the owner and is just someone in charge who has let his ego get to him. Very unprofessional. I was already upset they only play English music all night. Upon checking out this man/heavy set with beard tells me I have to pay the room which I paid w Expedia tried charging room again then added $50 extra and I ask for receipt and he was wrong. He said sorry. But this is tactics to overcharge. Don’t come here! Not worth it
