Beautiful cottage in wonderful setting, pampered by thoughtful staff led by Ranju and team. We loved every minute of our stay. We ate too much, yet not enough!
A high quality resort with great proximity to the Thekkady check post. Staff were super friendly and helpful through out, their evening programs were also great.
Food, you’ll love regardless of your nationality, worth visiting again.
Amazing hotel. Clean and nicely furnished rooms. Exceptional service. Amazing activities provided by hotel. Great bar with excellent bartender.
Grounds are impeccable and the attention to green initiatives is impressive.
We had issues with many hotels in Kerala and our stay here was just amazing from every perspective
A magical oasis in the middle of Thekaddy. The staff are so friendly and the rooms are amazing - separate cottages scattered around the grounds. A generous breakfast and buffet dinner are available and there are some free activities too, including a cooking demo with an introduction to spices. Definitely recommended!
Great ambience at the property with full, on point back to nature feel. Staff was very courteous and helpful. The spread and quality of food served, especially the home made pickles and spreads, was awesome. Thoroughly enjoyed listening to the artist playing the Saraswati Veena. The efforts made to reduce carbon footprint were very obvious and greatly commendable.
One night stay to experience the Periyar reserve close by. Our room was enormous and located near the very back of the property. Sadly building works are directly next to the property so we heard angle grinding. Mgr tried to stop them but only the rain did.
Staff amazing. Food delicious. Great cocktails and beers. Breakfast sumptuous! Many many options to choose. Lovely hotel with nature every where. Peaceful (mostly) oasis.
We did the Nature walk. Some confusion over timings etc meant we were late back but the hotel held breakfast for us. Note if you are doing the walk wear long trousers and ideally walking boots or trekking sandals. Brilliant experience with Betsy our guide.
Very nice village, with nice bungalow style rooms, and helpful and attentive staff.
But the food is horrible. There was a dinner buffet with dozen types of food but not single one of them was tasty.
We came after we visited CGH kochi that was amazing and had a lot of expectations so we were a bit disappointed.
The property is very creative and is truly a spice garden. Their activities, including afternoon tea and snacks are a delight. Their evening functions are wonderful with cooking classes and Indian dances.
However, there are small bugs and roaches in the room and even on the bed. There is no air-condition in the rooms and makes it hot and humid.
This property is one of the most unique places I’ve stayed in the world. All the different spice plants have an amazing scent in the air. It’s a hidden gem. The heritage style is also nice and preferable. I also checked Greenwoods, Elephant Court, and Cardamom County and this place was far superior price independent. A note for Hari the General Manager: the property images online do not show the true beauty of your place I suggest more pictures of the walkways and resort property.
A gem in the jungle. The property has a lovely tribal and colonial style and is eco conscious. It’s well located close to Periyar Tiger Park and shopping and massage facilities. The staff are wonderful and the food is good. Well worth the stay.
Wonderful stay at the Spice Village which was perfectly quiet with very homely comfortable accommodation. Great facilities, local and varied food of a great standard with super friendly, professional and helpful staff. Mr Tijin, the restaurant leader was superb is suggesting new and different food offerings and nudging to try new things. The activities were tricky as I visited in the rainy season.
An inspirational resort that has every environmental detail under a microscope. Providing filtered water instead of bottled is an example that many more hotels should adopt, particularly when you see the smouldering rubish along the side of the road all over India. It is a very attractive hotel with beautifully maintained gardens, low key bungalows and delightful staff.
You immerse into a different world: little, lovingly decorated bungalows are set on the hilly, green premises with all kinds of different plants and at its centre a nice pool with fresh water. The consequent ecological approach ist impressing and inspiring: no plastic is used, water is recycled, food waste composted. Spice Village is a great starting point for tours into the nationalpark (the staff at the reception was a great help concerning information and organization): green walks, boat trips, jeep tours (In August, we saw neither tigers nor elephants but - on a trekking tour - a black panther, which is very, very rare.) ... But the hotel itself also has a lot to offer: Every night, you can take part in cooking (spice) demonstrations and watch dancing performances which we often did during our 6-day stay there. I especially appreciated the guided tour of the property as not only the ecological concept was explained to me, but also the flora and fauna pointed out, e.g. bats hanging in the trees and a giant squirrel eating a jackfruit. Making handmade paper was also a lot of fun! Last but not least the great variety of the excellent fresh food at the buffets for breakfast and dinner should be mentioned! So we'll definitely come back if in South India again!
Great Hotel. They managed our trips to the nature reserve by boat, but a bit more expensive than services outside the hotel. We organised our trek by jeep, at half the price, just a few meters from the hotel. My only reserve was that they charged us for 1 pack of nuts on the counter above the mini-bar, when we checked out. Seemed a bit mean to me, given that we dined there every night. I assumed that they were complimentary! I would not recommend the '20-mile' dining area. The restaurant was much better.
