Peruvudaiyar Aalayam, Big Temple (locally known as "Thanjai Periya Kovil") is a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva located in Thanjavur in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is also known as RajaRajeswara Temple Rajarajeswaram and Peruvudayar Temple. It is one of the largest temples in India and is an example of Dravidian architecture during the Chola period. Built by Raja Raja Chola I and completed in 1010 CE, the temple turned 1000 years old . The temple is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the "Great Living Chola Temples", with the other two being the Peruvudaiyar Temple, Gangaikonda Cholapuram and Airavatesvara temple. The temple stands amidst fortified walls that were probably added in the 16th century. The vimanam (temple tower) is 198 ft (60 m) high and is one of the tallest in the world. The Kumbam (the apex or the bulbous structure on the top) weighs around 80 tons.There is a big statue of Nandi (sacred bull), carved out of a single rock measuring about 16 ft (4.9 m) long and 13 ft (4.0 m) high at the entrance.[ The entire temple structure is made out of granite, the nearest sources of which are about 60 km to the west of temple. The temple is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Tamil Nadu.

Good condition of hotel. Rooms good size, bright and airy though decor dated. Bathrooms ok but need uplift. Lovely breakfast and restaurant. Friendly staff. Clean facility.

After a small hiccup at check-in, the rest of the time there was excellent! The room was very clean, the staff were lovely but the thing I appreciated the most was how the transport organised by the hotel was totally transparent. The sign on the reception desk made the options and payment amounts very clear. The driver we were assigned was courteous and friendly.

Great location. You can walk out and do some shopping or grab food. Very close drive to the Thanjavur Maratha Palace and Brihadeeswarar Temple. Breakfast tasted good and had a good array of options. We were given a room at the far end and the only thing we noticed that wifi worked poorly. I didn't have much issues except a few moments of no service with my Android phone. However my sister's iphone could not connect at all. She had no issues connecting in theblibby or breakfast area but it was a dead zone in the room.

The checkin process was horrible (old computers and staff weren’t knowledgeable ) they started demanding extra because my kid was 12 while per Expedia >17 was considered adult the property seemed old I mean carpeting shower and other amenities but food was okay and staff were friendly the pool is too small not usable. Close to the temple and all but I wouldn’t recommend this place to anybody

Fantastic stay

What a wonderful and confortable stay at Sangam hotel. The pool area was set in a nice garden, perfect to beat Thanjavur Heat. The restaurant was delicious and the breakfast offered a large selection of options. The staff was friendly and really helpful. I had an issue with my taxi that didnt show up and without hesitation one reception staff went above and beyond to sort everything and got me a taxi from the same outstation company. Something that would never happen in Europe. Highly recomendable to visit the Big temple, dont miss It very early morning and at sunset, It is breathtaking.

Check-in was super-efficient and in-room dining was good too. Breakfast was filling and nicely prepared. Dinner selection with phulka and yellow lentil was tasty. Check out took a bit of time as people were jumping queues. Memorable stay at Hotel Sangham, Thanjavur.

Overall not a great experience. When ee arrived the restuarant was given to a function and we had to eat in a small place. The staffing was inadequate. I had to request for an extra bed 3 times and finaly go to the reception to ask and wait and get it. Not properly managed. Food waa average. Overll not worth the cost.

Staff were friendly and the food was okay in the restaurant, albeit expensive when compared with other hotels in the area. There was a few power surges during our visit when th power dropped off for a few seconds to a minute each time. we had requested a double bed in the room but received 2 single beds.
