We liked it because it was very near the lake. We disliked it because our bedroom was filthy. There was thick dust everywhere in our room. The back of the tv was disgusting. The air vent was filthy, the upturned lamp shade in the bedroom had whole families living in there. Even in the corridors there were swathes of dust. When we asked to move, the receptionist took us to another room this one the paint work was white and it was just as dirty, the receptionist didn't seemed bothered. She then told us to go to the Hilton their sister Hotel and so I phoned them and they were full. The receptionist then said well I can't help you, you better find another hotel. I expected our room rate to be refunded but they refuse to refund.

I rang to confirm reception would be there until 8pm. They had locked up and left before 7.20pm. Key was left however no wifi details or welcome info. Staff didnt sound professional on the phone always in a hurry. Room wasn't clean (found a hair in the bathroom draw) and all furnishings were very old and worn, bedding had all the inner from the duvet coming out everywhere. Paint job had been done without finishing tape - lots of paint where it shouldnt be making it look messy. Lastly, i received a phone call the following night, i thought it would be to apologise (as i had commented at checkout) however staff were asking if i was going to be checking in - for some reason they thought i had booked another night.. to be fair, this would have been ok if i was looking for a hostel, does have the basics.

Family room without the basics stocked. One pump bottle of soap in the bathroom acting as hand wash and shower wash. No other Only one plate supplied in the kitchen cabinet for a room that sleeps 5. Mould issue in the bathroom. A constant water unit running 24/7 next to our room making it noisy to sleep. No outside lighting up the path upstairs leading to our room.

Bed and hot shower. Well advertised meals, Happy hour for guest. No food no happy hour. Fair Trading Act ??? Only one staff member. Chef called in sick at 5.30pm. A complete lie. Neon light outside advertises breakfast, lunch and dinner. Menu board in foyer. What a farse A disappointment for Taupo

Upgrade the Wellesley

The owners have let The Wellesley deteriorate. On Friday and Saturday evenings, no bar service or meals. The relief manager said, 'the Chef had just, not turned up'. It is in a Prime position, has great potential, but needs significant TLC. The owners should be taken to task.

I stayed with my family and expected much better than we got. A wet floor by a leaky fridge that caused the room to STINK of wet carpet was really not what you want to walk in to and have to put up with after a long drive. It was an old, dated room that is in need of a touch up urgently. So much potential but misses the mark big time.

I liked the closeness of Wellesley to the shooping centre. I didnt like - I had to ask for extra towels and only two was provided. We only had one face cloth and one handtowel. No soap in shower only a pump soap for wash basin. No tea twoels in kitchen. No sparer blankets as it got very cold at night. Spa wasnt available and swimming pool was dirty.

value for money. Small room but comfortable. Staff helped us find a park, they were friendly and helpful. Despite being road front with a lake view it was quiet. The building is old and tired, but we were pleased to find it.

What a grotty hotel! No lights on, in hallways, freezing cold only heating a dusty burning dirty heater. The fridge seal was broken & filled with dirt. The bathroom was so dirty the kids refused to shower, i only did so putting flannels down to stand on. Mold in the sealant, the fan chooked with dustbunnies, the floor dirty in bathroom & carpets not cleaned since laid. Not only marked & dusty with crumbs which were not ours. The single beds only had
