Brilliant stopover. Little gem of a b&b.

Absolute brilliant stay. Top class. Stopped en route to Cornwall and was perfect. Lyn and Colin such great hosts. Room clean and comfortable. Lots of space for the four of us and great breakfast. Great local pub nearby for dinner. Couldn’t recommend it higher.

B&B experience in a 500 year old farmhouse

An interesting b&b experience in a 500 yr old farmhouse. Lyn was a very welcoming and friendly host. lovely breakfast. On the down side the house is not easily accessible for a mobility impaired person. Room was clean and spacious but the tiny step in closet en-suite with toilet, sink and wet room which shares the same small floor space proved a bit difficult. For tall people and not so slim it would be impossible. I would suggest if you have any accessible or mobility issues to ring first to discuss the room facilities. There are other room options if I had known.

A traditional B&B

Canonsgrove Farm is a very traditional B&B in a 500 year old farm house. If you want a sterile, identikit hotel room this won’t be the place for you. But for us we felt extremely welcome and comfortable. The room was perfect for our kids and us to share, very comfy beds after a weeks camping. The owner made us feel at home and breakfast must have been good because the kids ate double! It’s a working farm and you could see that but the rooms were perfectly clean and pleasant. Just right for a nights stay on our way home.

A quintessential b&b experience

Wonderfully authentic 500yr old farmhouse in a beautiful and convenient location. Perfect base for exploring the south west. Friendly and welcoming lively host. Cracking breakfast on a nice hot plate. Mind your head on low ceilings! Might be tricky for very tall guests!

Excellent!

We had a wonderful stay in this quirky, beautiful house. The hosts went above and beyond to accommodate us and also provided the most delicious breakfast. The room was big and spacious with an adjoining bathroom. We will definitely be back to stay again. Thank you

Fantastic location for visiting West Somerset Railway and other local attractions. When staying at a B&B the most important things to me are having a good night's sleep and good quality, hearty breakfast. Canonsgrove Farm didn't disappoint with either. Very comfortable bed, nice quiet location, really well cooked and enjoyable breakfast. Extremely friendly hosts and lovely to stay somewhere unique.

Lovely one night stay

We had a very enjoyable night’s stay here on our way back from holiday. Lynn and Colin were very welcoming from the moment we arrived, Colin also took us to see the cows in the field which the children loved, and we had a delicious cooked breakfast in the morning. Lynn recommended the local pub to us where we had a delicious evening meal. The only downside for me was that it’s quite close to the M5; as a very light sleeper this made it difficult for me to sleep but then I could’ve brought earplugs, this didn’t bother anyone else in the family.

Ten years my kids and I have been visiting Taunton 4-5 times a year, always staying in b&b’s or hotels, and I can honestly say this was our best experience so far, with the warmest welcome, cosiest accommodation & delicious breakfast Will definitely stay again x

We arrived to a note on the door. No problem, it's a working farm. We called Colin and he gave us info we needed (importantly for me, "mind your head") and we got in and we settled in to a quirky room and facilities. Not a negative, it's the nature of an historically old farmhouse, but clean and well provided for in terms of comforts. Lyn arrived briefly to introduce herself and provide some detail about the facilities before she had to leave to deal with livestock. We found her really bubbly and friendly. The next morning, Lyn had time to keep us company and have a chat as she took our orders and served up the most delicious breakfast. She left us with a gift of some yummy local cider, bid us a happy farewell and was off to help Colin with the farm again. Sadly short, but delightful stay and highly recommended as a novel holiday destination.

If you want to stay in a cottage that is 500 years old plus, in some parts, then this is the place to come! We absolutely loved it. What a lovely couple, who are working farmers, yet were incredibly welcoming hosts. We loved learning about the history of their home and hearing stories about past residents. We were made to feel so welcome and comfortable. Our room was clean and cosy, with plenty of supplies for beverages.. Excellent breakfast to set us up for the day. If there is one downside, and it is just one little thing, we found the TV too small for the size of the room, with us also struggling with the sound. Sadly, we had booked just one night, very last minute. We were made to feel like friends! We would love to return and stay a bit longer! Thankyou.

A truly warm welcome, and treated like a favourite family member. Lin could not do too much for us. always choice of fruit juice on table bowl of fresh fruit on table. Cereals and cooked breakfast extra toast on offer. We were upgraded to the cottage as we were the only ones staying that week. Colin and Lin working farmers. Best of all it was a privilege to stay in such a well maintained old farm building, A few drafts but you can have worse ones in a new build. Looking to come back in the new year. To experience the farm and surrounding area in spring. All in all our holiday was peaceful relaxing and exceeded our expectations. Best to stay for 3 or 4 days at least

Cozy farmhouse, welcoming and scenic

We had a wonderful reception from Lin on arrival, immediately welcoming and homely. Beautiful drive over to Lakeview Manor, Dunkeswell for a wedding reception. Beds very comfy and breakfast was delicious. Quiet, peaceful and serene. Would definitely return in the future.
