Thornbank house hostess Fiona is very helpful and goes out of her way to make sure that you have a very pleasant stay at Thornbank, she will make you a lovely breakfast that sets you up for your day ahead, everything is set up with hand gel stations and wipes in the rooms and also in dining room and hand gel available to use before entering the dining room , the place is spotless clean and up to the highest standard and swimming pool is an extra bonus, we have visited couple of times and it won’t be our last. Fiona is a remarkable lady .

Very happy with our stay, Fiona has everything set up for Covid measures. Freshly cooked breakfast We had a huge room with views over the loch, 15-20 minutes walk into Stranraer The pool was an added bonus.

Great B&B - Highly Recommended

Excellent stay. Fiona is so welcoming. Superb rooms with amazing views. Added bonus of a pool. During these strange covid times, pool use was staggered - which worked really well, it felt like your own private pool. All in all a great B&B that I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. I look forward to returning.

We stayed at Thornbank hotel on our way to Belfast and can’t recommend it highly enough. It is a wee gem, accommodation is amazing and very comfortable and attention to detail wonderful. Fiona was very welcoming when we arrived and breakfast lovely.

A Gem of a Place

From the second we arrived and met in the driveway, until the moment we rode away, the welcome and friendly atmosphere was second to none. The pool and spa facilities were an excellent bonus and meeting other guests at breakfast, that stay on regular occasions, speak exceptionally well of Thornbank. Their comments were only of high praise which speaks volumes as there is a lot of choice in Stranraer, but they all return there time after time, which is what we will shall also do. Well done to the Lady of the House.

We had a lovely huge room, overlooking the Port of Stranraer The space was grand and very well maintained. Comfortable bed, excellent bathroom/shower with everything possible provided. An easy stroll along the water to access local bars and eating places. The stair access to the water will challenge some, but you can also walk along the street which is flat. Fiona is a thoughtful host who prepared us a very generous breakfast takeaway pack for our early ferry to Belfast.

Great guest house, the owners were very accommodating and the breakfast in the morning was fantastic. The location of this property is amazing, wonderful views of the coast with the option of steps to easily access the coast line for a run or a walk. The hotel also has the added bonus of indoor heated pool, sauna and hot tub. A genuine gem of a find and will definitely be staying again.

Fantastic, quality B&B/Guesthouse

Don't read the reviews - just book. You'll struggle to find a better B&B anywhere, let alone Stranraer. Thornbank oozes quality and genuine thought has been put into the accommodation provision. Try and get a room with a view because falling asleep and waking up to it is simply the best.

The staff at the hotel couldn't have been nicer and the room and house were tidy. The indoor pool and hot tub are a great feature. Only complaint is with the quality of the beds and bedding. Bad places to cut corners as sleeping between locations was the chief reason we were there.

We spent 2 nights at Thornbank House and would certainly return. The accommodation was immaculate, the host, Fiona, was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble, there was even and indoor pool and hot tub to relax in! Breakfast was also great, with fruit, cereal, yoghurt and hot cooked breakfast available too. We had to leave early after our second night and Fiona even made a packed breakfast for us to take with us.

Lovely b&b with fantastic views

From the warm welcome on our arrival ,we could not find any faults with our accommodation . The house is in a nice quiet street , with a great outlook over Loch Ryan . Our very spacious room had all we could want for a comfortable stay , and Fiona was lovely , and so helpful .
