There isn't anyone manning the front desk and had to knock on the door just to get a server in the front lounge area. The restaurant service at Casa Don Alfonso was poor and the food quality was below average. There is no attention to detail in the cleanliness of the hotel, i.e. black mold in shower, dusty lobby fixtures. Not what you should expect at a Ritz Carlton hotel.
I expected to see a shuttle from the airport -- or at least advice about the location of a taxi dispatcher and approximate fee for the taxi. More importantly, I was not aware that the MetroLink service maintains a stop immediately behind the hotel and would have cost me about a tenth as much as the taxi and would probably taken me to the hotel much more quickly at the end of a very-stressful day. (I phoned the hotel from the airport because I couldn't find a taxi stand and needed advice on how to reach Ritz-Carlton. No one suggested that I use a train or tram, as I have done in many European countries. I did use MetroLink on Friday to visit Forest Park.) I also found the neighborhood very sterile and forbidding -- no place to buy chewing gum or throat lozenges or fresh fruit. Dining options in the hotel were very unsatisfying and expensive.
The Ritz in St.Louis performed like the grand lady that she is. She exceeded my expectations by miles. I had a 5 star experience at a 4 star property. After staying at hotels post pandemic and hearing every excise in the world as to why I expext less it was gratifying to just experience nirvana. I will most definitely return in the future and I want to give a shout out to Sabina and the housekeeping staff on the 14th floor. They anticipated my every need.
The rooms are spacious and have all the amenities one could ask for. The staff are all rock stars at what they do: the valets, reception, the bar tenders kept the drinks coming even though all the bars were slammed after a wedding reception. Best location in St Louis.
Beautiful hotel in a beautiful area, 10 to 15 min from just about everything e.g. restaurants, the arch, airport, etc. Be sure to check out the Sunday brunch, absolutely spectacular!
Class as you would expect from the Ritz. Impeccable service unmatched. Cigar Club has a very limited selection of cigars and mine was falling apart. Very nice but a humidor upgrade would be beneficial. Overall great experience though.
Property itself is quite nice. We had a room next to the elevators which we could hear in our room. Most disappointing was the fact that you have to pay for Internet (unless you are part of the awards program).
