The Chinar open garden Restaurant was my worst experience ever. In the evening its very cold in Srinagar and i was with my 5 year old Daughter and 11 Month old Son, I asked for Indore dining but they denied and said we have only this Operational. Also their food presentation is not good, the experience was like i am eating in a Dhaba. Also i got cats over their, one of them eaten my desert and ran away. i will never recommend this property to my friends if they want to eat in their restaurant.
At the time of my stay in Lalit (February) there weren’t many guests at all but they still ran the hotel in full. Nearly all staff knew my name or who I was and service was personalized which was nice. I was sick with flu most of my stay unfortunately but the comfortable room and kind staff helped to make the stay more pleasant. The facility is amazing, like a movie set, yet functional. I highly recommend.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Good property, not value for money, dull ambience
While the location of the property was very good, room sizes very small and very dull property for any activity during x mas and new year period , they need to make this place more lively specially during holiday season
Its amazing hotel to stay. Prefer ground floor rooms. Food expensive but tasty. Staff is very nice, humble and helpful. We had issues with the twin bed provided even though king size bed was booked. Please get this ensured on basic requirement while booking. Hotel gas amazing lawn to walk and also has cycles one can ride every morning. Hotel has dal lake facing view and moutains behind. A must stay atleast for a night when in srinagar.
The front desk could not find my booking at the time of check-in and I had to wait for them to find my booking for quite some time. Apparently they had it mixed up with the next day's arrivals. I think the front desk staff who assisted me could be more friendly and welcoming. They did give me extra free 1-hour wifi card for my inconvenience after I asked. I think giving complimentary wifi should be part of performing services at a hotel of this standard. I even got free wifi when staying at the LaLit New Delhi, and here is the LaLit Grand Palace Srinagar which is supposed to be of higher quality with more comprehensive services. The breakfast buffet does not include mineral water, which is quite odd. They would charge extra for mineral water. In general, the service provided by the staff is not standardized, some were very good and attentive but some were lacking smile and friendliness.
Superb Hospitality .... Very good location , grand ambience

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Dead hotel - only one other guest.
Very expensive hotel with limited amenities.
Managers just come and knock on your doors without any courtesy calls
Food prices are 5 times higher than the best restaurants in Kashmir
Bathrooms have leaky toilets and faucets
Bathroom ceiling had a huge leak with water gushing out of walls and ceilings
Not impressed at all
I'd rate this hotel at 3.0 stars only
We had a wonderful time at the Lalit. The palace is beautiful and the staff was really, really warm and friendly. It's perfect for a relaxing family vacation.
We were celebrating my 70th Birthday and our 44th Wedding anniversary. The staff at the hotel could not have been kinder. They put a lovely bouquet of flowers our room, plus a cake, toy elephant and chocolate boat filled with chocolates. We stayed in a suite with lovely sitting area. Breakfast was in the beautiful garden and was delicious (Great Dosas) , as were the dinners. The ground were gorgeous, filled with English flowers and with a great view over the lake. Thank you to all the staff at the Lalit.
We stayed in the palace suite for a couple of nights during our trip to Srinagar. The Lalit is a former palace nestled amidst lush green mountains with great views of the Dal lake, which is a short walk from the gates of the hotel. The property is well-maintained and the service was top notch with courteous staff and prompt attention to our requests. There's a nice heated pool on the premises as well as a gym. The grounds are beautiful and soothing to the eyes and the gorgeous trees on the campus (chinar?) are a sight to behold.
This place is a nice retreat for a relaxing vacation.
Stayed with family with 2 kids , the hotel is overall nice , but rooms need to be renovated for better comfort and the pricing they have charged !!!
There were couple of issues with barroom tub leakage and shower , which were successfully resolved with the help duty manager Mr Zeeshan / Ishaan . He was very polite and resolved the issues .
Would recommend to stay in New Wing , as it's more modern . Rest all was good .
The Lalit Grand Palace ligger ved en høyde med utsikt over Dal sjøen. Med store chinar trær i haven. Helt fantastisk. Frokost buffeten er av en annen verden. Fantastisk.
Going to Kashmir in February is not the best unless you're going off to ski. Booking the Lalit Grand Palace Hotel was the best thing we could have done. The hotel is a historical building retored beautifully with no expense spared. The lobby and lounge were cool but soace heaters were provided. The rooms were toasty warm, comfortable and large with a walk out to the gardens. Srinigar's gardens although well groomed and readied for the warmer weather were flowersless and gray. The staff were extremely helpful with suggestions and arrangments. Loved it
