We had a great stay at Dettifoss. The rooms were large and comfortable, and the bathrooms were modern and clean. The kitchen was in good condition and well-equipped for most simple meals; however, it was a bit small for the number of guests that were there. Free coffee and tea was available as well. There was plenty of parking, and the self check-in was easy.

We travelled in mid-September. After viewing the photos when booking, I mistakenly thought the guesthouse was in close proximity to the falls. It is actually 25 minutes from Dettifoss. It is north of the falls so it is positioned well for Asbyrgi Canyon. Don’t judge the accommodations from your initial take of the outside. The amenities are great - kitchen is well stocked, great eating area and the bathrooms are newly remodeled. We would definitely go back again.

Home away from home

We had a very enjoyable stay at this quiet and comfortable guesthouse with courteous hosts and all the comforts of home. The location is also very good, being just a few miles north of Asbyrgi and Dettifoss. I would highly recommend it.

The facilities are very clean and cosy. With all the indispensable services for one night. However, no direct contact with the staff and unfortunately no hot water in the morning for showering.

Price is good, the guesthouse is clean. There are 11 rooms but only 1 kitchen. You may need to wait for long time if you wanna cook. Advise to eat something like sandwich, biscuits and instant noddles instead

Recently upgraded

This place has had many recent upgrades. Rand new WCs with heated floors. A new patio allows ample room for sitting outside. Located right outside the national park.

Clean, basic hostel, but slept well.

No frills, but it seemed clean and comfortable. The bathrooms on one end are newly redone and and were clean and nice. It was hard to get a toilet/shower in the evening since a large group all arrived at the same time as we did. Many people waiting in line. We arrived later, so did not meet the owners, but they left a room key for us. We had use of a kitchen and storage in the refrigerator.
