The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room is exactly to be expected for the price - it is small, has aircon and a good shower (with decent pressure). Lots of places to eat in the area. It was an easy walk to the stadium where I was competing.

Overall satisfied with my staying there. The bathroom is clean and the showering facility is quite good. The room and bed are clean despite of one night with some dust detain on the quilt. Happy with what I paid for there.

We did not sleep well because it was too cold and we couldn't regulate the temperature. TV was good. Maybe extra packets of tea and coffee could have been given.

We were kindly allowed to do late check out. Room is nicely designed and just enough for 2 people. The bed is also quite nice. But the area around the hotel doesn’t feel very safe to walk around at night and the hotel could do more extra cleaning in the rooms. It can also get quite noisy as walls are thin.

The room was modern and clean. But there was one major problem. The location of the toilet in the bathroom was ridiculous. The bathroom was small, as expected. But the toilet was in an area that was too small for someone with broad shoulders. I'm 6-foot-2, so my shoulders are wide. And I couldn’t sit straight on the toilet. I had to angle my shoulders. My hips barely fit between the shower glass and the wall. If you are a tall man, you may have issues with the bathroom. The rest of the room was nice. The staff were great, friendly and courteous. The area is a little rough. And it's about a 15-min walk to the metro station. It takes about 45 minutes to an hour to get to any of the major attractions. So not the best location. Although there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Overall it's a decent stay for the price. Singapore is quite expensive. If you're on a budget, it's not a bad option. But if you can afford it, I would say that the Chinatown area would a better choice.

Stayed at Hotel 81 Hollywood for 1 night after booking it for 4 nights originally. After checking in to the room, the room was small and bathroom was dirty with grime and mildew. No exhaust fan plus the humidity. Our driver let us know the area was sleezy and we could tell the area was noticeably rundown. However local food areas were good. We were still charged 1 night and additional night penalty per their policy which sucks.

The location was OK. About 10-15 mins walk to MRT. Close to restaurants and shops. We would prefer a bit closer to the City, cleaner surrounding though. We tried to contact the Hotel 81 via email on many occasions before flying to Singapore without any replies. After settling into the Hotel, we found out that the bar fridge had no freezer, and asked the staff (evening shift, male staff) whether we could possibly use the staff fridge to freeze a small ice block that's used to keep our medication and eye drops cool on the road. His reply was unfriendly, a straight NO. Other staff are good and helpful. Communication and attitude are important to customer service. It makes a big different to how people feel about their stay in the hotel and in Singapore.

Avoid this Hotel 81 Premier Hollywood

I would recommend avoiding this hotel at all cost. We booked two rooms at this Hotel 81 Premier Hollywood for 4 nights but decided to check out after the first night. The room is small. The bathroom only has shampoo dispenser, towels and nothing else. The location is bad. It is in the red light district and a brothel is 3 houses away. The alley leads to the hotel is dark. My son and daughter who are adults literally told me to check out after their walk to buy some stuff at nearby 7-11. They don't feel safe at all. In addition, the internet is slow. Download speed is 1.1x Mbps. We stayed in the 5th floor and it is noisy all the time from conversation of other guests walking outside my room. It happened at mid night and even at 6am. When we told the front desk our horrible experience and asked for early checkout, they charged us a penalty fee of one night. So we only got back 2 nights payment and also get charged an additional 6% credit card cost. That is their cancelation policy. I did contact Hotels.com agent for this matter and ask for their support but they replied that they cannot help.

Nice stay if you are on a budget.

It was a good choice for the location and the amenities around the hotel. Lots of shops, restaurants, laundromats, bus services, bike sharing rental, and 10-15 minutes walk to the subway station. Staff was friendly and immediately responded to my needs. The bedroom and bathroom were quite small and I could hear noises from the other rooms and hallway. Nothing too disruptive though, and the nights were quiet. The bed was comfortable with a good firm mattress which was perfect for me.
