Great stay in a very quiet area
The staff were super nice and made for a very good trip. We had older people with us who had trouble with all the little steps in the rooms and bathing areas but overall we had an excellent experience. The third floor private bath was broken so we could not see what it was like.
no microwave but love the free popsicles and fantastic view

The property is at a beautiful location overlooking Lake Tazawako. Everyone including front desk staff and those who work in the kitchen and restaurant are extremely friendly. They would offer any assistance regardless of what customer needs and would make sure you are satisfied with their service. However, the property is a bit run down and one can tell that only minimal or basic maintenance have been done over the years. While the property noted it has bathroom and shared bathroom at booking site, it in fact doesn't have any private bathrooms in all the rooms. The only bathroom is inside a spa facility and customers has to book a time to use it. Also the property noted no smoking is allowed but it has set aside a room for smokers located amongst all non smoking rooms on the third floor. Strong smell of cigarettes is circulated in the corridor. It would be better if smokers are required to smoke outside the property.
This was first class onsen. And on Shinkansen to Tokyo line.

Nice lovation
I am disappointed in the area. There were no restaurants open for dinner. The area is beautiful. There is a bus that goes around the lake. The hotel has both a private and public bath. There are no showers in the rooms. The private bath is available in 30min increments.
Come for the view, stay for the food. Excellent seasonal spread of local dishes. The kashikiri bath on the 3F was very in demand so I didn't get to try it, but the public baths on the ground floor were quite serviceable. Come by car if you can since most of the good hiking/sightseeing spots aren't easily accessible by foot, although the hotel does have a useful shuttle service to and from Tanazawako station.
Staff were adorable.
