We stayed here for the hot spring and skiing. The sauna and outdoor bath were awesome – we loved them! The hotel itself is a bit old-fashioned and has a 90s atmosphere, but there’s nothing wrong with that. In fact, it felt like a nice cultural experience, a bit different from the usual modern hotels in Japan.
The only downside for me was the dinner option. There was only a set course menu, which didn’t work well for me because I was very hungry after snowboarding all day. The food was beautiful and delicate, but the portions were quite small – I could finish each dish in one or two bites, and then had to wait a while for the next course. That was a bit challenging when you’re really hungry.
Stayed in the western style room with open air hot tub. The room was quite spacious, especially compared to other hotels in Japan. The room came with a massage chair which we enjoyed. The hot tub was on the small side but was able to accommodate two adults, and the temperature was perfect! The dinner and breakfast at the hotel were both excellent. We only stayed one night but would have loved to stay longer
We loved the outdoor/indoor hot spring and sauna. The place was very clean and easy parking. My only complaint is the bed was very hard (we had a twin room). Otherwise a great place to stay!
Everything related to the hotel was ok, but the problem came when I did the check in, it looks like on the web site when I choose my kids age they were considered as kids since they have 15, 13 and 6 but when I did the check in at the hotel they disagree on this and they asked me to pay more money even when my reservation was full paid. The wors was when I contacted Expedia they told me that there's nothing they can do so I have to pay, so be careful when you select how many adults are going with you because kids between 12 to 17 years old are considered adults and the app is not doing it. So again the hotel was great but the service from Expedia on this situation was horrible.
Fantastic place to enjoy nature and the surrounding areas of Sapporo and Otaru. Staff was super helpful. Room was clean. Breakfast was awesome. Piano play at night during the week was actually one of the highlights just sitting and listening to live play for an hour. Having a car helps getting around as there really is not much within walking distance. Many of the frost staff spoke English, but it’s definitely a hotel more for Japanese tourists. Onsen was also pretty good with the outdoor and indoor parts. The location is prime for venturing out in a bunch of directions to explore.
Very nice, clean, near bus station, near ski resort (0.3 mile). Excellent onset. But the mattress is too firm, hurt my back.

Hello, I enjoyed my stay in Asari Hotel very much. The hotel provided excellent service and a good variety of activities to people enjoy the stay.
I'd like to express my appreciation to one of the lady staff at the front desk who helped me to make reservation in the morning of 8-Sep. I cannot speak Japanese fluently and she helped me with good support and in excellent manner. Thank you again! (I forgot to ask for her name tho.)
Speaking of the facility. Diff from other resort, they have sports center including a swimming pool, tennis court, squash / table tennis court and a gym. Although i found it is a bit old and lack of maintenance somehow, it gives us a chance to get sweats. A little bit of surprise, I like the onsen the most. There are outdoor pools as well and it is beautifully built and blended into the nature. You would find peace at night and be feeling energetic during your time in the onsen :)
In general, it was an unforgettable stay and I wish to come back again someday. Although we found there was some unpleasant smell in the room and in the bathroom. Hope it will be improved in the future.

Staff friendly. Dinner and breakfast were tasty. Close to ski field. But room is SO HOT. When we checked in we immediately turned off the heater. But hot air kept coming in from the vents. We opened our window all night to allow freezing air in to cool off. But did not sleep as we had to open and close window all night. We came for the onsen but didn’t use it because we didn’t want to get hot in the bath and then come back to hot room. No sleep. Sad stay. Not relaxing.

The hotel itself is very old, however it has been kept in the reasonable good condition. The room used to be smoking room, I can still
Smell the cigarette smell in the room. There is a safe in the room, please use it! I got my stuff stolen without knowing it till one week later. It’s very difficult to even tell the hotel that my belongs got stolen 5days after I checked out the hotel. Please keep your valuable in a secured place. There is a young male housekeeper and I suspect it was him took my stuff. Apart from that, The hotel staff in the reception and the restaurant they are extremely polite and very friendly. I would still recommend to stay in this hotel but just be aware of your belongings
The service is Amazing. The front desk manager is incredible. He even went so far as to call authorities when I didn’t come back from a backcountry expedition. They were ready to start the search if I hadn’t returned late that night.
I am truly Grateful for his attention to detail because of the dangerous backcountry terrain.
The room was smelly with body odors. There are no towels in the room. The air condition is not working. No dinner available. Breakfast, for the price, should have been free. 30 minutes or more from town.
