So I want to give a full 5 stars because there was so many amazing things about the property, but there was a little that could be improved.
First off you are not getting a better location on Santa Fe plaza..the parking was seamless, the hotel was really historic and decor was fantastic. It was super clean and our room was cleaned fast and we never had to ask for anything. The only thing that could use some love are the rooms themselves. I heard that part of the hotel was remodeled, but I was clearly on the side that wasn’t. Not typically a huge deal but the rug under the beds was so stained and old that I had to wear my flip flops every time I walked in the room. The bathroom definitely needs some attention and the biggest issue was the AC. It was struggling to work and so loud it woke me up all Through out the night. For the price and the grandness of the hotel I just wasn’t expecting things like that to be overlooked. Beautiful hotel and I would stay again, maybe I’ll just ask for the remodeled side next time.
We were very disappointed to be first placed in an experimental room recently remodeled next to the service entrance on the ground floor. It was cramped and very noisy. We asked to be moved but because we booked with a third party vendor ie Expedia, the receptionist said we could not be moved. The next morning we spoke to the desk manager, Wenona, and she immediately and graciously upgraded us to the new Terrace Inn wing. This area was extraordinary and we felt incredibly appreciated as La Fonda customers despite the confusion created by being Expedia clients. We are eternally grateful for this experience with La Fonda, which happened to be my birthday celebration. Thank you La Fonda for this classic experience of Santa Fe hospitality. We loved it and will be back. The management staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful stay with them. Its reassuring that despite being Expedia customers are still appreciated.
EXPEDIA needs to pay attention to this market trend and ensure its customers are treated as well as we were in this exceptional instance.
Great hotel - wonderfully historic with art & sculpture everywhere. Only downsides were staff - some great but others cold and unwelcoming - and lack of wifi in some areas (ie. complete lack of wi-fi in our room).
First Visit – A Beautiful and Thoughtful Experience | We stayed at La Fonda on the Plaza on July 1st for one night—our first time there—and it absolutely lived up to its reputation. The decor is stunning, full of rich Southwestern details that made the entire hotel feel warm and special.
The staff was truly wonderful. We had a late check-in, and they actually called ahead to make sure we were still en route—such a thoughtful touch. Since most restaurants were closed by the time we arrived, they recommended a great nearby spot that saved our evening.
This hotel combines charm, comfort, and care in the best way. We’d definitely recommend it and would love to return for a longer stay next time!
I especially liked my personal cellphone based concierge who helped me with everything including the address of the best gourmet grocery store where I could buy locally sourced goods to take home! Ivy was the BEST!
The hotel is nice and the location is convenient. The room was quite small and the bathroom very very small. Room for only one person at a time restaurant was good. The negative of this hotel is that it is very loud. We were woken up by employees talking loudly in the hallway. Seems like there is no insulation in the walls so you hear everything around you.
We had a wonderful stay at LaFonda! The hotel is beautiful and has so many amenities attached to it such as shopping, a French pastry shop, and more! It’s also right across from the Plaza and walking distance to everything.
