Nice location because it’s near chinatown and union square. The price of the room is pretty decent. The only thing I don’t like is there is no exhaust fan in the restroom but overall room is okay and it is quiet at night.

Staff were very friendly and professional but felt like my Asian family. :) The lobby, hallways and my room were clean, shelves a little dusty. They changed my bedding and towels every other day. NO ROOM MICROWAVE OR MINI FRIDGE. You’ll need to go downstairs to a basement to heat food. Bring napkins and tupperware. Rooms have carpet. I stayed about 4-5 days. The tv is small. Very basic cable and with fuzzy static. I was also given a portable heater as it’s chilly at night and early mornings. About a 1/2 mi walk to Montgomery BART. This is Chinatown the area gets quiet and ghosted after 8pm. Lots of cash only and extra fees (use of atm cards, foods orders over $25) at the restaurants. I stayed 4-5 days.

Great proximity to Chinatown and Downtown SF. Room was smaller than expected but has the essentials you need. Some spots on the floor were squeaky but otherwise, place was kept relatively clean. I believe there is 24-hour staff at the front desk and excellent customer service.

Good bang for the buck hotel. Right in the heart of Chinatown, there's lots to see and do within walking distance. Staff was helpful and kind. Hotel is clean. My only complaint would be that the bed are not super comfortable

The staff were very friendly and the location is quite convenient for walking to sights, shopping, etc. The building and rooms were very clean. Our only complaint would be the beds - while clean they were extremely hard, felt like we were sleeping on plywood.

Staffs are very nice and helpful. They always watch who is coming to the door. The hotel is very secured and I feel very safe to stay. The room is clean, and they clean your room per your request if you stay more than one night. Walk distance to get a slice of pizza at North Beach, and to get NY Bagel and a decent cup of coffee from the financial district. Oh, you can get Chinese food, but many places close early.

The hotel is not bad, the room was pretty basic and small, but ok for the price. It is located at the entrance of China Town, which is convenient for walking around or take the subway, but be aware: the area around the hotel is NOT safe! I was attacked in the middle of the day by a stranger in the street, of course it's not the hotel's fault, but you should be aware of that when booking (!) The hotel staff was open to help when necessary, so as I said they couldn't really prevent what happened, but be aware of the risks.

The price is right for the budget minded hotel. 24 hour staff, Chinese owned and staffed. Building is old and charming; built in 1912. Perfect location for walking around Chinatown, North Beach, downtown.

This property is located in Chinatown right by the dragon gate. We were able to walk to where we needed to go. Parking is off site. Ask for a parking voucher to get a discount to park in the garage. There was 6 strands of long black hair that were in the shower so it obviously wasn’t cleaned. There was also a peanut on the floor and earring so the floor wasn’t vacuumed. This is a good option for travelers who do not plan to spend much time in their room.

Beds are awful
The hotel was pretty and has a lot of character. There is no individual heating and air in the rooms so it was freezing and then the heat kicked on in the middle of the night and it got so hot we had to open a window. The beds were so hard it might have been softer to sleep on the floor. If they had better beds, we could have dealt with the heating/cooling.

We stayed here during our visit to San Fransisco. Grant plaza hotel is located in china town. We felt very safe staying here. The bed was not very comfortable and the room was small but we felt safe so that was the main thing.

Although loud, this location is great. Rooms are small with hot water radiators, windows do open onto a loud street. The beds are in need of new mattresses or at the very least memory foam toppers as they are saggy and you can really feel the springs. Otherwise the hotel felt safe and convenient with friendly staff for the price, which in SF is pretty affordable.

Room small, noisy, floor creaky…everything so old such as paint carpet and bad bed. Should not recommend teveryone...hot water have to ask receptionist all the time that was inconvienence and not professional hotel. Good location that is it!

The hotel is old. Besides the reception hall, the rooms are a bit dirty. The wall is not sound-proof so I can hear the noise from outside and upstairs when people walking and talking. It make us hard to get into sleep. The door of the first room we were assigned cannot be locked. The staff is helpful and helped us change to another room though. There is a heater in the room, but there is no central system, so the room temperature does not stay constant. It changes when we open or close the window. Also, the window does not have a screen. The good thing I would say is that, it is located at the Chinatown. So it is a good location to explore the area.

Chinatown gem
This was my third visit to Grant Plaza. The staff is always friendly and accommodating and the neighborhood is safe and fun. It is also a total bargain. Can’t wait to come back.
